January 18, 200718 yr not a real big surprise, didn't see ND being a big player for them anyway. right now malcom smith is really the only player left that ND will probbly go hard after.
January 18, 200718 yr Danger, I think he was asking a question. I'm not sure if he's refusing still, I assume information about the visit should leak soon, if it already haven't.
January 18, 200718 yr Wright is supposed to be visiting this weekend with Kamara. Gilchrist, Kamara, and Wright are all visiting this weekend. Hopefully the weather is OK in SB. Hopefully Kamara works on both of them. I see us getting both M. Smith and Gilchrist before this class is done...well that's what I'm wishing anyway...
January 18, 200718 yr Charlie Weis and staff were elated to hear of Little decision but perhaps even better news last week was that Jason Peters may have changed his mind about not visiting Notre Dame. Peters, DE, 6-4, 260, Catholic High School, Baton Rouge, LA had originally stated that he would not take an official visit to South Bend. The Irish staff refused to take no for an answer and now it appears as if Peters, a much-coveted defensive lineman, will find his way to the campus of Notre Dame. “A lot has changed since then, because there is an extra weekend between signing day and my LSU visit,†explained Peters. “There is still a possibility of me taking a visit to Notre Dame. I’ve been to Georgia Tech. I’m going to Nebraska this Friday, Florida the next weekend and LSU January 27. Then there is the possibility of visiting Notre Dame, but nothing is for sure right now.†Peters is reserving judgment on a trek north until he can meet face to face with Charlie Weis. That meeting is scheduled for this coming week. If all goes well, Peters will go ahead and schedule an official visit to Notre Dame. “Depending on how the home visit goes with coach Weis (Jan. 17), and I expect it to go well, that will determine if I take my visit or not,†said Peters. “I want to learn more about his coaching style, what he’s like and who I will be playing for. It’s just an important thing to go before I go into a situation.†Even if Peters does visit, the Irish face quite a struggle for his signature. Notre Dame offered late and originally recruited Peters as a defensive tackle (he wants to play defensive end). “They are recruiting me as a defensive end, but that isn’t necessarily the basis of my decision,†stated Peters. “I had planned those other visits before I had talked to Notre Dame and that’s why they weren’t going to get a visit. Rumors of coaching changes at Notre Dame and elsewhere have gotten Peters’ attention and while that won’t necessarily play a huge role in his decision, it is just another factor that the talented young lineman is taking into account. And, like any young recruit, he’s looking at depth charts as well. “There have been a lot of coaches switching jobs lately,†said Peters. “I also take that into account. I’ll definitely take that into account when I decide where I end up. LSU has defensive linemen coming out at the seams, but that’s true at Nebraska or Florida or Georgia Tech or Notre Dame. I’ll have to fight for a position, but that’s healthy competition and it will just make me better.†http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=109&p=2&c=610799
January 18, 200718 yr It is a tropical paradise here this weekend! By tropical I mean in a nuclear fallout kind of way. 4 inches of snow tomorrow, high of 28. I'm gonna have to start wearing pants if this keeps up. Was that out loud?
January 18, 200718 yr I had planned those other visits before I had talked to Notre Dame and that’s why they weren’t going to get a visit. ... LSU has defensive linemen coming out at the seams, but that’s true at Nebraska or Florida or Georgia Tech or Notre Dame. I’ll have to fight for a position, but that’s healthy competition and it will just make me better. It's great to hear that his lack of interest was due to us recruiting him at DT, but now that we missed out on Martin, it sounds like we are going to be a lot better considering that we've now got an empty DE spot for this class. Idk what the hell Les Miles is telling him. Someone needs to educate Jason about our depth on the DL. I'm not sure about Gtech, but LSU and FL are 100% deeper and more talented on the DL than we are. Come to LSU and possibly start freshman year, or go to LSU and maybe never see the field....tough call!
January 18, 200718 yr I'm sure Coach straightened him out. It seems as though jason Peters is a more natural DE that DT. What about moving Neal to OLB? I think he would be a pretty darn good linebacker with his speed and athleticism and allow both Peters and Trattou on the field at the same time.
January 18, 200718 yr http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ap-t25-notredame-assistants&prov=ap&type=lgns I'm glad they decided to announce the new DC before the weekend, so the recruits will be able to visit with coach Brown and ask any questions they feel they need answered. It can't hurt.
January 18, 200718 yr I know most people aren't going to want to hear this but Ian Williams run stuffer DT, Kerry Neal-OLB/DE Tweener, Richardson-OLB/DE Tweener, Peters and Trattou-Big, Strong DE, Crum OLB/MLB, Toryan Smith Strong MLB, starting to sound alot like the foundation of a 3-4 to me
January 18, 200718 yr hey irish afterbirth, i'm listening to ya man, but do you really think williams will be be good enough to handle that responsibllity???????
January 18, 200718 yr Boy I sure would like to get Peters to visit. We would have his last visit before signing day, and for some reason, this year the place were a recruit has visited last has done pretty well.
January 18, 200718 yr I know most people aren't going to want to hear this but Ian Williams run stuffer DT, Kerry Neal-OLB/DE Tweener, Richardson-OLB/DE Tweener, Peters and Trattou-Big, Strong DE, Crum OLB/MLB, Toryan Smith Strong MLB, starting to sound alot like the foundation of a 3-4 to me Haha, it does doesn't it? There has been soo much speculation throughout this whole class, I can't wait to see what CB does. I think we are likely to see a 4-3 base D with some 3-4 mixed in to see how it works out.
January 19, 200718 yr Glad to see Gilchrist visiting this weekend. According to both of his profiles on Rivals and Scout, he isn't visitng ND or any other schools for that matter. Where did you hear he was visiting us Rock?
January 19, 200718 yr I don't know if Ian is up to it or not, but if his best attribute is stuffing the run, that would be nice. Plus, what about Paddy Mullen, how much has he bulked up, he was a tight end with 4.7-4.8 speed right? Maybe he won't be a DT, maybe he is a 3-4 DE.
January 19, 200718 yr Wright is supposed to be visiting this weekend with Kamara. Gilchrist, Kamara, and Wright are all visiting this weekend. Hopefully the weather is OK in SB. Hopefully Kamara works on both of them. I see us getting both M. Smith and Gilchrist before this class is done...well that's what I'm wishing anyway... It will be interesting to see our boy Corwin get to work on these kids on campus. If he can turn Wright around and at least get us back in the race than I am a believer.
R peters and wright still refusing to visit ND?
