Where do we stand with these recruits? I haven't been paying as much attention as I should. These are the players still left as offered according to Scout. If I'm missing anyone from Rivals, let me know.

Ronald Johnson

Major Wright

Malcom Smith

Robert Hughes

Michael McNeil

Jason Peters

Rickey Booker

Long shot

1/3...probably in his top 2

Likely going to Illinois w/ Tez

No

In home with Charlie tomorrow, but he doesn't have us in his top 4 now

I don't think this kid is even offered!!

Ronald Johnson - never really in this one. Grades are definite issue 0%

Major Wright - he isn't as interested in ND as people think he is. If he heads Midwest it's to the Buckeyes. Some speculate OSU, others Florida and Miami. I dont see him at ND. 5-10 %

Malcom Smith- Has been hard to read. Right now USC is his leader with ND behind by a little margin. I can't see him at Cal. 40 %

Robert Hughes- Was an early lean to ND along with his buddies but his buddies shifted to ILL and so did he. ND is still in it though 45 %

Michael McNeil- no

Jason Peters not in his top 4 right now but the inhome is coming up. Who knows

Rickey Booker- we didnt offer!!

i agree with patches. if ND brings in anybody else it would probbly only be malcom smith but i think he may stay on the west coast.

didn't i just read a quote elsewhere on DD of smith saying cal & nd were his top two??

That was an update from about 4 weeks ago...

USC is his leader.

USC is his lone leader?

I'd be nervous about SC being on Malcolm's list in any fashion. It seemed the chance we had was his parents were not happy about the education his brother got. It sounds like Carroll and his staff spun had some time to do spin control to get back into the picture.

The idea of Smith's parents being unhappy w/ Steve Smith's education is pretty funny and wrong. The guy is going to play in the NFL next year, has never had any academic problems in his 4 years, and has been a starter at SC since the beginning of his sophomore year. SS is a leader on the team, and was actually voted as the team's MVP this season.

As far as Malcolm Smith, he wants to go to SC as he grew up rooting for them. The only reason he isn't a "done deal" is because of the depth at linebacker at SC. Howeverr, most people feel confident that he'll end up at SC. Everyone will have a better idea after this weekend.

Welcome again fighton, can't agree with you on a few things do so on a couple, but then that's life and we back different schools. Again welcome to DD :)

Glad to be here - not a flamer, but since ND and SC usually have a lot of overlap when it comes to recruits, i'm lookin forward to some good and friendly discussions.

Haha yeah let's try not to be to harsh on each other when our team gets a big recruit that they were both battling for... :D We've got a Miami fan here too, so don't worry about much heat from us. We welcome everybody at DD.

Fight on! You are a brave soul! Love the way SC travels. Partied at 1995 USC vs ND @ linebacker lounge with a bunch of USC people. Classy folks. They even tailgated the next day with us at stadium. Have fun and remember this is a classy board!

Just be careful at the Colesium... SC fans there could are worse than tOSU fans. Part of it is the dispossed Raider fans that latched onto SC and I'm sure the fact that the stadium sells beer does not help.

Welcome Fighton. I think you're partially correct here, the issue w/ steve's parents isn't grades, it's credits. Apparently he's a 4th year guy w/ some credits left before graduation. Pretty normal at most places but for whatever reason it doesn't sit well w/ them, they feel academics have been brushed aside. Another thing I've heard is that Pete upset some parents w/ not attending the wake for the passing of your kicker (my sincere respects to the family and SC). I know he attended the funeral but the fact he was having a sit down w/ Huezenga in the carribean while other staff members addressed the media and handled the team was a little surprising. Pete is a player's coach and father figure to these kids, he wasn't there when they needed him and I guess some parents didn't like that. It will be interesting to see where Malcolm ends up, we'd love him Irish! Isn't Galippo enough, especially w/ Tyler probably shifting to LB.

While I have a genuine distaste for the USC program...I have never had a more enjoyable time then attending the Irish games at the Colesium. This will of course change the day I finally make it to South Bend...a lifelong dream!!! The Trojan fans there for the most part are like us...except for the drunken masses that pelt our mascot as he runs the sidelines. But Raider fan does not live at the Colesium any more... They do lurk on the boards though...privately hoping the 'Poodle' does not make the same mistake Robinson did, $$$$$$$$$$$

Here's hoping my fellow Toreador (Malcom Smith) does not make the same choice other former Toreadors (Steve Smith and Jeff Fisher to name a couple) made...and comes to South Bend!
