I think his mind is already made up but maybe this helps persuade Hughes to come to South Bend. If he commits to ND he should see the field in 2007.

Alot of people kept talking about the depth we have at RB. WE DO NOT HAVE MUCH DEPTH AT RB. Even with DW, we still are not overlyl deep. I've been saying all along that we need 2-3 RB's in this class. Right now we have 1 1/2 (Tate--RB or WR).

Without Darius in 2007:

RB:

Travis Thomas

James Aldridge

Munir Prince

Armando Allen

Luke Schmidt (FB)

FB:

Asapp Schwapp

Luke Schmidt

Sorry but I think that is pretty thin and VERY untested. Now throw Hughes in there and the thin part gets much better. The combination of Hughes and the other 4 would give us a very nice mix of RB styles.

Let me end by saying that I would hate to see leave now for the NFL.

Chiro says good riddance ole stutter stepper! Bring on the new blood and leave TT at LB with Zibby!

Ya, part of me just wants to see the new guys also, but as a loyal fan, I think that TT should get the first nod (assuming he's really competitive with the younger guys) because not only is he a 5th year player, but he's also got good speed, he runs hard and doesn't avoid contact, and he even switched to LB last year because he thought it would help the team.

Oh and about Hughes, he's got a senior and 2 sophomores and another RB who doesn't play the same style of ball he does, so I think he really has to like our depth chart right now. He won't see much as a frosh but he can probably get a 5th year and he would he could defniitely see the field as a soph. if he impresses.

Where does Darius think he's gonna be drafted? I don't really get it.

TT on first down, JA on second down, and AA on third down.

James Aldridge on everydown. Even punting.

I think this hurts. One reason why Quinn's had a higher completion percentage is from having Walker so frequently open underneath. Now, we're going to be using untested receivers, which is going to make Claussen (or whoever wins the job's) life much more difficult.

Oh well, at least next season will be VERY interesting.

Here's another side benefit that I'm surprised no one has mentioned:

With Walker leaving, Thomas moves back to RB, meaning we have one less LB than we did last season.

Hello? LB recruits that are left out there? We officially have ZERO depth there now. Shall you join us?

Of course, this is predicated on Zibby NOT moving to LB, which probably won't be that bad of an idea.

I would be shocked if Hughes doesn't end up at Illinois.

hughes will probably end up at illinois. i hope weis can turn chicago into a breeding ground for ND recruits.

I agee I don't think ND's depth at RB is very good at all with Walker let alone without him. I'm very envious of USC with them getting something like 3 stud RB's every year.

who's gonna block? blitz pickup? prince? i dont think so. good luck without him....

Screw SC and their endless supply of 5 star backs. We'll be fine, AA is a complete stud, and JA is more than capable of taking the majority of the load. TT is going back to RB so that's three top guys and three different styles. Unless Charlie starts running the wishbone or we get worked over by injuries I think we'll have enough backs.

Am I missing something? Is DW going pro? I just got back from the grocery store and all hell has broken loose! Well, I wouldn't mind a fresh start but I do like DW very much. Please rsvp! Someone? Anyone?

Outlined against a cold October sky, the Four Horseman rode again. Their names were Jones, Aldridge, Allen and Thomas.
