I have to say that Im a huge ND fan but if I was a 18 year old kid there would be no way that I would come to ND to play defense we flat out suck. Charlie always talks this big game about being a man in charge and in control of the situation well if he is he isnt doing a very good job. I know RM coached here before but that doesnt matter we need to get rid of him, and bring in a top notched DC because Charlie may know offense but he doesnt know anything Defense it would seem. The reason they succeeded at NE was because Bill got a great OC and a great DC. Its just really sad to see that we all are hyping CW and he is another TW and until he does something about it he will continue to be compared to him. I know we won 10 games but we got blown out in our only loss's to top ranked teams. Real coach's are able to coach up players regardless of there skill level. Look at Boise State. I also think its funny that all these players that didnt come here where mainly CW main recruits the guys he was focused on recruiting himself. His grace period is over. I beleive there is a reason that he was never offered a Head Coaching job. 3 loss's by the amount that we got beat we have to add him to the TW talk and I can't stand TW are defense is as bad as TW offense. Had to get this out.

Go Irish

Wow, why don't you do all of us a favor and make this your last post you moron. This is ridiculous.

We still have a top class, great offensive prospects, and some real studs at D with Trattou, Gray and Harrison.

Seriously Dog, go away.

Whoa Prez. I don't agree with him either, but moron may be a bit harsh for a first time poster.

I think we're all a bit upset about missing out on Donald, Edwards and Martin today, but things will be fine.

Now J, while I understand what you're saying, it's off.

The difference between CW and TW is that TW was losing to more than just top teams, and after falling into a recruiting class after his first season, he essentially stopped trying that hard to recruit.

I understand that people can coach up talent, but it's obvious Weis did that. He took a team with one good recruiting class and won 19 games in two years. And I know that we're all smarting from the big-time losses to U-M, USC and LSU, but those are probably three of the top five teams in the country.

The difference with Boise St. is, they can get up emotionally for a game more than the teams they're playing, because even though they're good and have won a bunch of games, nobody takes them seriously (they should now, however).

At Notre Dame, you get everyone's best shot every day, even when you're an overwhelming underdog. And that was especially the case this year when the Irish came in ranked No. 2.

Charlie is going to be fine. This class is still amazing. I for one was incredibly impressed with Clausen today, despite mediocre numbers. As well as Gray.

So don't leave Dog, it's just not wise to compare Willingham to Weis, because they really aren't on the same level.

as we say in Texas, that dog won't hunt. i wish i could have the minute back it took me to read your post.

Normally, this is where I would welcome you 'jdog426'...

I want to, really...but will only say, "wow, where did that come from"?

Well with a handle like weisforprez I can understand that he is so clouded with his love of CW that he would call me a moron. Everyone seems to want to give CW and staff a free pass on there perfomance. Whats worse lossing to teams your suppose to beat or getting beat by 20 or 30 by the big boys? College coach's have been able to figure out some of CW offense as has been stated in the past by other college players who said they knew what was coming. there are 32 DC in the NFL and whats it like now 119 in the NCAA at D1A. I dont believe that ND doesnt have speed that ND doesnt have the players look are whole team is made up of Parade All Americans. We havent had a top Coach for many years. I met CW on many occasions as Im from SB and I tend to like him. I've also have talked with him on many occasions while watching basketball at the Joyce and I can tell you he has told me that he knows he will be defined by what the Defense does. I love ND but Im not blinded by faith until we are able to beat Top programs on a normal basis CW will continue to be another HC at ND and he would probably tell you the same thing.

No no no Dog, lets address what you said that I took issue with. You didn't say he was a disappointment (despite winning more games in his first 2 years than any ND coach in history) you said he was another TW, or Tyrone Willingham. That is just irrational and wrong. Either you simply haven't been watching our games or you aren't aware that recruiting matters. Check Rivals.com and see what our recruiting was during the TW era, then check how Washington is doing this year in recruiting.

Go ahead Dog, I'll wait.

Now look how ND has done the past two years. YOU ARE COMPLETELY WRONG DOG!!!

My frustration is that you just bounce on this site after a tough day of recruiting and have your first post be some unsubstantiated, nonsensical post comparing Weis to Willingham. If you want to say your disappointed, fine. But compare him to TY??!!!!

I'm disappointed too, but I also watch enough football to see that the program is going in a much better direction than when Ty "3 Handicap Golfer" Willingham was losing to Syracuse and pacing the sidelines.

Like I have said my outlook on this isnt clouded. I bleed blue and gold if I could fit anything else ND in my house I would. In 3 years from now we will be looking for another coach mark my words. Call me a moron call me stupid do whatever makes you feel better. No matter who we got in recruit wise since CW and RM on the defensive side of the ball we still seem to be mediocre and TW defense players are still starting whats that say about CW recruits on Defense? Cant be tottally that bad can they?

In 3 years from now we will be looking for another coach mark my words.

Wow...

I'm speechless.

Hey DOG,

At least your boy TY has 2 kickers this year! Thats right 2 kickers!

Ty is nowhere near Weis, Dogger.

It says that they (Coach Weis's recruits) were freshmen last year, and will be sophmores this year...

Not all freshman will start immediately. In three years from now, we should be competing for a National Championship...IMO!

i agree rd. however, if we continue to get blown out to top teams like we did this year, then maybe in 3 to 4 years we would want to rethink CWs employment. however, i dont see that happening.

Dog,

Do you realize that we had a 210 pound Running Back at OLB this year? Or how about a 220 pound middle linebacker? Or what about a banged up chain smoker at safety? What about a step slow possession reciever at the other safety? A roughed up, beaten running back with no one behind him but a freshman who broke his leg and got very few reps? What about our fullback was M-I-A due to injury all season? Our best receiver was a baseball player. There was no depth. We dropped too many passes... Weis can only do so much with the cards he was given. Sure he makes mistakes, he takes a lot of risks, but he is a great coach. He's won 3 Super Bowls with a New England team with one star. If you can't see the progress then you really did not watch TW live like I did when I was in school.

Yea we got are asses kicked in three games, all to top 5 teams. We lost out on a couple big names. So what. We are getting better. We aren't 5-6. There is still a lot of holes and it takes time. Relax, enjoy the fun team we have, we will get better.

i agree rd. however, if we continue to get blown out to top teams like we did this year, then maybe in 3 to 4 years we would want to rethink CWs employment. however, i dont see that happening.

It appears to me, that Coach Weis has significantly shored up our offense...it is obvious with our recruiting this year and last. Where we may have a problem...is with the defensive recruiting. I would say we need a credible defensive co-ordinator, someone who can and will go the the high schools, go into their homes and sell what is in store for them should they choose the Irish.

Sell the recruit on being not only a part of our tradition...but playing an important part on our resurgence... for it will happen!

jdog, where I have I heard all of that before? Oh ya that's right, from my friend who HATES ND and likes to give me shit when they lose and talks trash on CW. If you're really a fan, than you're only a fair weather fan. Otherwise, you would have some faith.

concurred. minter is just not cutting it. on the other side..charlie is doing a great job and with the recruits we are getting in the future looks awesome. also, our d recruits are a fantastic group too, though we could use a few more of them. like is said before, we could have a linebacking core of all Lawerence Taylors and Minters D would still stink up a stadium.

I would like to apologize to you 'jdog426'...for not offering my welcome to you...I am sorry. Not that I feel any different about your opinion's, but because they are what they are, an opinion.

Welcome 'jdog426'...to Domer Domain...

I don't agree with much "dog" has said, but I do agree with 1 thing. If I were an 18 yr old kid and a elite defensive player, I wouldn't come to Notre Dame right now either. Minter's style sucks, no elite athlete wants to watch a receiver or running back catch a ball in front of them and tackle them, and I don't blame them. Until we get a DC who is willing to put pressure on the QB and cause chaos on the other side of the line of scrimmage, elite front seven players especially, will probably keep passing us by.

that's it. lets go out and get Gene Chizik from Texas. who cares how much he costs, that guy is a stud DC. we got haywood from UT so why not Chizik?
