not a huge davie fan, but he makes some good points. when you get embarrassed on national TV 41-14 you are going to take a beating. not even lou holtz could defend what happened last night.

True enough, it's tough to gloss over getting drubbed by a combined 132-59 in losses to Michigan, USC, and LSU this year; however, Davie had a full 5 year run to implement his program, and the results are a matter of record. On the other hand, Charlie's first "full cycle" recruiting class were only true feshmen in this 2nd year; I think at the least it's fair to say that the jury is still out on Weis, pending developments in 2008 & 2009 as "his" recruits play out.

one thing to remember, davie inherited lou's talent, charlie inherited shit...

our class was top 10 last year, correct? none of those guys saw significant time (except sam young who will be a top ten nfl draft pick in a couple years). is it weis preserving eligibility or the mere fact that most freshmen are not ready in their first year. please dont tell me its because they arent good enough.

not about not being good enough. plenty of raw talent there, just not experienced. very rare for true freshman to dominate at this level.

You know I could give a shit what anyone says about Notre Dame (good or bad). The media talks Notre Dame up all summer long then when they don't live up to the hype (they created)they rip them. Right now Notre Dame wins all the games they are supposed to win, but can't beat elite teams. Bob Davie was fired because he lost games the Irish should have won.

Weis had some talent when he arrived but not National Title talent. In a few years the talent level will rise. When the talent level rises to the same as other elite teams THEN I have no problem with anyone ripping Weis for not winning. With that being said there needs to be some changes on the defense. Even though ND isn't super talented on D they give up the pass way too easy.

I have faith in Weis and despite the losses and negativity I am proud to call myself a fan of the greatest university and greatest team in the NCAA...The University of NOTRE DAME (slamming fist on the table) :)

Chainsaw - Testify! The finest college football program there's ever been, or ever will be, dagnabbit!!!!!!!

what about bringing bob davie back as DC. when he was at ND he always did a good job recruiting and his defenses were always pretty good.

I did like BD as a DC, It would be suprising if he was brought back though!

after some of the thing Davie has been saying, do you really think Weis would want him on his sideline or up in the booth?

I always like Davie as a DC, but as a head coach and as a commentator during games, not so much.

No chance a former head coach comes back as a DC. No chance. Write it down, stick it in your ear, pull it out your other ear and read it again.

At least Coach Holtz handed him something....

What was Coach Weis handed? A dwindling recruit list? I looked at the Class of 2008 for ND recruits. There's what?...4 recruits total or something like that? 1-2 maybe a 3 star?

I saw Charlie Weis calls Bob Davies to the table and tells him to take the defense and put his money where his mouth is. If Bob comes through, awesome.

Why not? If everybody were on the same page and sayin', "Yes Sir!" I'd be really worried about where the program is headed. That's why we're called individuals. If Weis can't handle any criticism or suggestion of any kind......

Nobody should want a "yes" guy around them, I would hope not anyway. However, I think what Davie is doing is more along the lines of shit talking and he has some straight up jealousy issues, not constructive critisism.

Davie has some issues with the way things were handled between him and ND.

However, I think what Davie is doing is more along the lines of shit talking..... .

BD is just trying to save some grace as being the head coach at ND.

Imroc whats up with your avatar man.

Hey Gwood i think my boss imroc over there has a crowded server, that s messed up for a bit. It do happen

At least Coach Holtz handed him something....

imroc - Couldn't agree more; cupboard much more bare for Charlie at outset than it was for Davie. Unfair to judge Weis until his own recruiting efforts begin to pay dividends.

Just based on tone of Davie's remarks, can't see him returning as DC - although he was fairly competent in that capacity under Lou.

i think davie , is putting across some good points, what do we have coming in 08???? HOWEVER LETS LET CHARLIE GET IT DONE HIS WAY, HE HAS A GREAT TRACK RECORD. I FO ONE WOULD LIKE TO SEE DAVIE AS A REPLACEMENT FOR MINTER, WHOM I THOUGH DID A LOSEY JOB WITH THE Defense.
