How on Gods green earth are we losing recruits to Illinois???!!!??? They suck worse than a crappy vacuum cleaner but yet recruits are picking them! It is not like we all didnt know where Wilson was going but I cant figure out why! I have never seen a team suck so bad but yet get good recruits after a terrible year....few years!!!! Nice choice Wilson!!!???!!!! You really chose a whopper there!!! I cant understand why a recruit would buy into the lame bullshi- that Zook is spewing! My question is simply this, how are they doing it if it isnt shady! They suck!!! It just doesnt make sense! These kids cant be that hoodwinked into believing they have any prayer of making it anywhere at Illinois! Clearly this is a case of two programs headed in opposite directions! Notre Dame will be a national powerhouse under Clausen and Weis with uber recruits such as Aldridge, Allen, Kamara and a slew of others on board not to mention the studs weve picked up for the defensive side of the ball ie. Toryan Smith,Trattou, Walls...the list continues! I just cant figure it out! Maybe the NCAA will!!!!! Its the only logical thought that I can get in my head because other than that I am at a loss!!!!!

I can honestly see this as a scenario. Hopefully this young man isn't motivated by something else...something material, something that could haunt him years from now?

It may be something else as well - the fact that the "Zooker" promises the recruits the world, whereas Charlie tells them the way the world works - hard work will make you successful. How many teenage kids want to work hard? They want to be handed stuff on a platter and not have to work for it.

 

So, I believe that losing out on guys is not that big of deal - if they don't get what is so great about ND, then you don't want them on your team no matter how talented they are. Charlie has always said that if you don't understand what makes ND special don't come here. I know what ND means to me and many on this board - obviously it didn't hit home with some of the guys who went elsewhere. Next year we probably won't even remember who they were, especially since we won't ever be playing IL at any time during my lifetime.

I would have no problem with that but I don't think thats the case. These recruits are being Zooked by Illinois snake-oil salesman.

I think you also got to look at it like in his own state he's a MAJOR big Fish in a tiny pond, go to ND your one of many small fish in a big pond. It is hard to get a guy say out of Louisville here as he is the big cheese.

I am from Chicago and let me tell you- we do not even feel as though we are par of a state, let alone Illinois. Their is no connection whatsoever to the University for football and really at all like in other states.

 

This is all about money. I have had two independent sources tell me about the dirty recruiting and one of them is a very wealthy illini fan.

Can't undo the Wilson commit...but I hope we continue to show love for Robert Hughes. One person's (Wilson) vision is not neccessarily anothers. Okay, so Wilson did not see the path to the NFL thru South Bend. And I don't see how anyone can vision this path thru the Illini. But Robert should be able to see a better path to the NFL by way of Notre Dame and Coach Weis's offensive scheme's?

Didn't look too concerned about the game - perhaps he was expecting someone to produce some $$$. I guess Zooker may be saying "why wait to get to the NFL to get paid..."[/i]
