But now he is also actively plotting our destruction. That is something completely different.
On ESPN today, I watched his May Day awards. He gave out four: two positive and two negative. Ohio State's Pittman received the "Underhyped Award" and Carroll received the "Coach that Wins Big Games" Award (too bad UCLA and Arizona weren't big games). No huge problems with those positive picks.
But now we come to his negative picks, and he spent both of them on...
you guessed it, Notre Dame. For most overhyped player -- Brady Quinn. For the coach who can't win the big game -- Coach Weis.
The Brady Quinn pick is almost legitimate, but it also seems like piling it on to a guy who has endured a lot of disappointment this year.
The shot at Coach: completely undeserved. He says 0-4 against the top 10 teams. Calling Mr. May, what was Michigan ranked when we beat them in Coach's second game? Is the new coach supposed to just start whipping top ten teams right out of the gate? Weren't those 4 losses against the best teams in the country, not just top ten teams? Does Coach get any credit for going 9-3 and 10-2 after abysmal seasons under Willingham?
So why would Mark May waste half of this personal segment attacking Notre Dame. Why spend two of his picks, his only two negative picks, on us? Even though he hates us, isn't the man smart enough to use his picks a little more creatively and constructively than that? Are you telling me that there is no other coach out there losing the big games? I guess I missed it when Northwestern beat those top ten teams this year or when Coach Bowden upset Florida.
Here is his sick, twisted and insidious motive -- he is actively recruiting against us. Yes, Mark May has been given airtime by ESPN to actively recruit against us. He sees the strides Coach is making, he knows the next couple of months could see us accumulate another top ten recruiting class. And he is actively trying to stop that.
Shame on you ESPN if Coach Holtz isn't given equal airtime for rebuttal. Personally I am boycotting anything on ESPN that has Mark May without offsetting him with a healthy dose of Coach Holtz.
Mr. May, a word to the not-so-Weiss:
you don't tug on Superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask off the lone Lone Ranger and you don't mess around with ND.
Mark May is an idiot. We all know that.
He is a Notre Dame Hater. No shortage of those.
