Sergio Brown just committed to ND. He told the coaches last night. He is my favorite of all 3 of our safeties from this class.

:D Super news broker. Any info on him?

That's #18 (rather #17) At this rate we might be booked up by October 15th. I bet ND is starting to scare other people. :D

Wow thats great, just came on before school starts

He's been rising up some boards. He's a 6'1" 184 pound safety out of Chicago. 4.4-4.5 forty, 31 inch vertical and 4.25 shuttle. Rivals ranks him a 3 star and Scout ranks him a 4 star. Scout also says he has very good ball skills, instincts, and nose for the football.

Has offers from Purdue, UCLA, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh :D That fills the Defensive secondary problems now.

OL and DL........

Hmmm? Now I see aanother board mentioning him. He said something about chance to come in early..If that is accurate or not. (Rather trust you)

I woinder what that means? It's eather chance to play as a freshmen or enroll January...which would mean he is not counted as a 2005 recruit. That would give us an extra scholar like Aldrege.?????? If you find anything else let us know. Jeese if so three early months with Coach Mendoza :D

I was stoked to read this today! He was on my list of "must haves" for this class. Mark it down, Sergio Brown will be a star. GO IRISH!

I know I haven't been able to offer much since I've been busy with school and what not, but if anyone is a sleeper in this year's recruiting class its Brown. He has amazing abilities and can lay a licking. With he and hopefully Darrin Walls in the defensive backfield look forward to big things.

Remeber hes 6'1 and runs a 4.4 and can hit.....think about it

I think Brown is heavily underrated. I read earlier in the year that there was some sort of mix-up in getting his film and bio out to the big schools, and it wasn't caught until late in the recruiting season. As a result, he inexplicably flew under the radar until the Michigan combine, where he came "out of nowhere" to wow recruiters. I have officially forgotten about that other S. Brown. I'm confident we got the better one!

Hey Irishmac..and Snatchy. It sure does seem the present coaching group understand and know how to sell Notre Dame. A pal just sent me a thing where Brown talked with dem. Jones who told him going to Notre Dame is a 50 year commitment. Meaning you will always be family.

So much for the 'kids today' not understanding or caring about notre dame Tradition. :)

I would put Robby Parris right there with Sergio when it comes to sleepers in this class. Parris is going to be a player.

this is great news to hear and i think thats #18?

charlie and crew keep on bringing in players this is really great to hear.

this recruiting class is just getting better and better and as time goes on the better this team will be.

regardless of what you all may think, the most significant pick up this recruiting season will be ryan burkhart (the kicker). I know it's far fetched but as Fitzpatrick graduates this year we are need of a kicker. So why not go out and get one of the best kickers in the nation

Irishmac. No Not farfetched at all. We sure need a kicker...punter too....

Those are 3 points when you come up yards short and punt it down their teeth to the 1 yard line. :D

I think it's more worrys about what we DON'T have at the moment. GFlad we got fed up with that Cal kicker and snapped this one up.

Reminds me that's another issue Center and long and short snappers.

sorry Mac but that is far fetched. We definitely need a kicker but the most important guy in this class? NO. Try OL, QB, RB, DB, DL, WR. All areas that we severely need more players, and much more important positions. You can always find a kicker. It's not like DJ was ever highly recruited but he worked out very well. half the kickers start out as walkons.

just wait and see, the rankings are bs, don't let them fool you. Schwapp was a two star last year and we all know hes made a significant impact on the running game this year. I'm not saying that burkhart is the best im just saying that he will have the most significant role on the team next year out of all the freshman.

I agree Irishmac. One cannot overlook the kicker. 2 field goals a game across 11 games is 33 big points.

Coach Weis had some kicking problems and mentioned them in his Sept 25th Presser below.

I was happy with Zibby's (Tom Zbikowski) 25 yard punt return, but he's got to take care of the football. Two last issues. I addressed one yesterday for anyone who was there. But in the third quarter, I think in hindsight, we were a little bit concerned going into that open end about how close we had to be to kick field goals. In hindsight I would go ahead and try both those field goals, even if we came up short on them. We were trying to get closer to the 20 yard line, especially on the second one after we gained nine yards on third down, got up to the 21. I definitely would kick one there. But in both cases, it was right in that grey area where we weren't really sure whether or not we had a good, solid play. If we had a good, solid play to call on offense, we were going to go ahead and call them. In hindsight, I would have taken those both back and I'll take responsibility for those.
