I guess they pretty much don't want Fat Phil to waste his time and go visit someone who actually has interest in their program.

<<<<<< Would be shocked if Harrison didn't end up at ND.

Good news TD. He's gotta be a silent at this point. We've been banking on this guy being our safety recruit, and it looks like he won't disappoint.

I think he'll be a great Strong Safety, alongside Sergio Brown who will be at FS, in a couple years. Herring and Bruton will probably be playing the next year or two. I think both groups will be a step up in coverage ability from our current guys, no offense to them. It doesn't help that Duke and Zibby weren't safeties coming in.

That is great news. It appears on paper that we are really recruiting the secondary really well, must be Bill Lewis. Now if we can get the front 7 guys with some speed and nasty attitudes I will be happy.

Yes - Zibby was a running QB and CB at Buffalo Grov HS.

I just got a note from someone I trust - forwarded from someone else who supposedly has ND staff contacts. Take it FWIW - I don't know the originator, just my buddy who forwarded it. We're both scratching our heads to figure out how legit it is.

It says: ND staff feels very good about AA, Lorenzo E., Blackwell, Smith, Tate, Hughes, C. Little, Dever and Donald. Romaine and Peters would be next on the list (I know some of you feel Romaine is a silent). It also said Weis had a very good visit with Best, but location will be a factor and it's probably 50/50 with him depending on the visit.

One final interesting thing it said was Weis told Clausen on Sunday he is heading to visit two commits from FLA this week: AA and Edwards. This might be loose wording here - maybe he meant "recruits" and not comits, but I thought that was interesting. Guess we'll all know on Friday.

Finally, I know this is not new news, but the staff is supposedly very jazzed about the freshmen OL, particularly Wenger. Someone may have mentioned before if the staff did not rest him from his injury, he may have taken some minutes from Sullivan this year.

good stuff D Fence, good reporting.

i expect jahvid best to stay on the west coast, i think him running track will be the main reason.

it's good to hear where in good shape with edwards.

Some great inside info...thanks. I talked to Wenger when I was on campus for the Penn State game and he was nursing a broken wrist and was really bummed because he said he was moving up really quickly in summer practice and was going to see some time. I don't know about you guys, but I think our offensive line is going to be really good next year. Young will be at left tackle (for the first time he really impressed me against USC) replacing Harris who I think has been a disappointment. Wenger steps in, Stewart, and maybe Olsen, and now we have some nasty O-lineman ready to pave the way for Walker, Aldridge, Prince, Schmidt, and hopefully Hughes and/or Allen/Best.

Go Irish!!

ND does a great job producing quality centers, i can't remember the last year we had center problems. i don't know about really good but i think they have a chance to surprise people. from the limited time the backups and freshmen have played i've been pleased. there have been times when eric olsen was rotating in at OG.

how about good but mistake prone next year then really good the next year.

also that news about the staff's confidence would make me feel a whole lot better if AA wasn't mixed in there. I have no confidence in that, nor do i want to hear anything about him until he announces. I don't want to get my hopes back up on a kid i dont think we can get.

Much like i dont want to hear any random ND rumors right before someone like McKnight announces.

Wow D Fence that was fantastic.

I tell you what though I would be blown away if we got AA, and Lorenzo I'd given up on him months ago. Let's hope your sources are right.

BUT AS ALWAYS, AS LONG AS CHRIS "MR TENNESSEE FOOTBALL" DONALD IS ON THE LIST....I'M SMILING.

Let's hope it pans out. There were a few things that were different that what I would have expected, so we'll see.

I for one am not that confident in AA, but you never know. The good news is we only have to wait 2 more days. It's funny, there was an article this morning about a freshman hoopster who committed to U of I, and it talked about how they have over 1,000 days until his NSD.

That would probably drive us nuts with a top football recruit - I know it would drive me nuts.

sorry defense but I see no way in hell that wenger would have taken quality minutes away from Sullivan during games this year. meaningful minutes that is. Sullivan is arguably our best OL and one of the best centers in the nation.

and Atlanta, as for Harris....well I guess I can see your opinion on him, but he's been just as important as Sully playing a position just as key if not more so. Last game was rough with the false starts but Harris is still an awesome lineman and should make a good pro. He's a 4 year starter and has been great for us.

I can understand your guys frusteration with the OL, but these 2 guys in particular have played well considering that half the time they are trying to block two guys because Santucci and Morton are whiffing on blocks.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the younger guys can do but hopefully Sully returns for his 5th year.

Harris" postion even close to the improtance of the center? what glue have you been smoking...the center not only has to recognize the defense he touches the ball "every play" I know that protecting the Qb's blind side is one of the most important job...but you can try to move people around to see who will work best there and still win games, a bad center=a bad season.
