According to Pete Sampson on Sirus today, he said ND won't be taking a full class of 25.

With that being said, that would only leave 9 spots left in this class.

Here's my prediction for the remaining 9 spots:

1. Golden Tate

2. Matt Romine

3. Harrison Smith

4. Will Blackwell

5. Chris Donald

6. Robert Hughes

7. Michael Williams/Marcus Gilchrist

8. Matt Summers-Gavin

9. Chris Little

sounds good to me Shark.

I'd throw Dever in there too.

I still think we'll get someone that no one thought we will too-maybe that's just wishful thinking.

I'd like to think that Ben Martin could be added to your list to

thats probbly dead on shark. i dont think ND will land michael williams and i'll hold off on gilchrist for now. i'd also like to see ben martin and gerald jones on that list but im not sure how realistic that would be.

Jones committed to Tennessee last night..

son of a @&$#%.

i did not see that coming.

So he was saying that we won't take a full class by choice? Does this mean that the staff isn't feeling too confident with a lot of the remaining prospects? It makes sense not to just fill the class for the sake of filling it and to save spots for top guys next year. However, I think we would all love to see Best and Martin in this class as well.

Question for the board:

At the beginning of the year we "will probably take a full boatload, 25."

Things do change but is this an admission that we didn't corral all that we wanted?

Well G. Jones just announced for Tenn. and as for martin i don't know after the showing against SC, the only thing the staff can say is that " we did the best with what we've got". So ND right now has to sell it's program against other programs recent track record. And that my friends is a hard sell. So a kid has to really see himself making the plays. That's is what seperates SC, UM, tOSU from us. They make the plays and we get played and until that changes we are just going to be close seconds for all of the recruits.

Did he say we are taking 20 instead of 25?? Or did you throw the 20 number out there.

If it is 20, here is my guess:

Hughes

Dever

Little

Romine

Blackwell

Tate

Smith

There is no one else that I am confident we will get.

I'm thinking we lose Martin and Donald on defense and MSG to Cal on offense.

i feel good about donald and MSG. a lot of people think that ND might be in the lead for martin but i'll believe it when i see it. history shows that pulling the #1 player in ohio away from OSU just doesn't happen.

Wait, did this guy say why we wouldn't be taking a full class? Unless the staff isn't confident that we will be getting the most talented guys, what other reason would there be for us only taking 20 kids??

Check out the scholarship breakdown link at the top of this forum. We "can" take 25 this year, and possibly next year.

The only reason I would think CW would only bring in 20 this year is because he refuses to just "get bodies".

With you on the Williams issue. But I feel that in getting Martin and Gilchrist along with Blackwell, Tate, Donald and Smith...our defense woes may be addressed? Maybe not thouroughly, but addressed nonetheless. I mean we also have Gray,Neal, Nagel and Trattou. This will go along ways in becoming an aggressive defensive...maybe even 'Nasty'?

I think there are two things going on here.... First, if we take 28 and then 25 your looking at 53 in two classes which leaves 32 (16 each). That will leave a big hole when those two classes are ready to leave... In a perfect world you would have 22 kids per class.

Second, I think that last year we needed depth so we needed numbers, this year he looks at it like we want potential starters. Look at WR, we have to guys that are top 100 guys and the potential to land 2-4 more next year. Why not save this years "extra" WR spot for a guy that will come in after next year and compete for a starting spot instead of a guy that is going to always be buried on the depth chart.

As for the theory that we could bring in 25 this year and next, not by my count. That would leave only seven spots for this years sophmores and any fifth years in the current junior class. By my count we have 14 players in the sophmore class (15 minus Hiben) plus players like Lambert, Crum, Ferrine and Vernaglia that could get a fifth year.

im going with 21-23

i think benn throught he staff and i think one or two more will too, likely williams and

otherwise i think there in good shape with where they want to be

td can you retype that?

i think benn throught he staff and i think one or two more will too, likely williams and

Yea, that confused me too

td can you retype that?

im also having trouble.

take the last t in through and add it to he

sorry guys in class

i think we will take a class of 21 to 23 guys

i think benn through the plan of taking 25 off, and i also think someone like mike williams will throw the plan off, and likely there will be another

the staff was so sure on those guys that they never really found viable backup plans, as ur seeing with wr recruiting being shut down

with guys like ogelsby and wilson they were suprised but had depth planned

therefore because of 2 or 3 suprise guys going somewhere else the staff will end up at 21-23

i think 20 is a safe bet, i think a few guys people write off will be irish, like donald and maybe one or two suprises like a tez or someone (just like GJ was a suprise to Tenn)

therefore im picking a class between 21-23, they wont take a couple more to fill spots no way

i'd say the guy that surprised me the most was DT andre jones, i really thought ND could get him.
