Of course we all want to see us grab Armando Allen or Jahvid Best, but is it really that necessary that we get a speed back this year? As long as we get someone like Hughes and have the option to use G. Tate or G. Jones at RB than we should be ok for the year, right? Due to our recent success in NJ, I thought that this was interesting:

It looks like we may have a great shot at a legitimate speed back in next years class. I think that we will always be at an advantage with NJ with Weis at the helm.

i think it's very important to have a speed back, they can make your offense so much more explosive. im not talking about a speed back that weights like 170-175 lbs., they get tackled and tripped up to easy. i'd like to bring someone in like gerald jones who is fast and is also built. you need guys on your offense that can take it 70 yards to the house if given a hole. we can't be a team that has nothing but power backs in the backfield.

Ya, I would be very happy to get Tate and Jones in there and give them a try. But I know that we'd also like to get a guy with ridiculous speed like Best and Allen seem to have. Does anyone know anything about that NJ kid?

One of the fastest running backs in the Class of 2008 may be Rashad White of Teaneck, N.J. The junior running back has been timed at 4.35 in the 40-yard dash and is a track standout in the Garden State.

Does anyone know anything about that NJ kid?

He's good !!!!! Very good, in fact he's one of the state leaders in scoring, and he's high on ND already.

β€œI get letters from Notre Dame, Florida, Miami, Pittsburgh, Louisville, South Carolina, Iowa, Connecticut and a lot of others right now,” White explained. β€œI like Rutgers and Notre Dame a lot right now and they’ve really shown the most interest early along with Cincinnati. I hear from the Rutgers coaches often and get handwritten letters from Head Coach Charlie Weis at Notre Dame and also Coach Rob Ianello. Coach Ianello actually came down to my school last month and has asked for more film recently.”

I have Walls as a friend on MySpace, and talk to him once in awhile. And I asked if I could use the picture.

With the recent success of Rutgers, CW will probably have to work hard on getting him out of there, but pulling a kid from NJ is a bit easier than pulling him from FL so it shouldn't be too rough. What high school does he go to...it's not the same as on of our 3 NJ players this year is it?

No he plays for the Teaneck Highwaymen. I played against these guys when I was in high school. Its not a very good area of NJ, but not the worse either. I've never heard of any D1 talent coming out of there, but who knows.

Dread, can you give me the link to his myspace? Thanks man!

This kid has put up some impressive numbers:

White carried the ball 159 times for 1177 yards and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore and has followed that up with a brilliant junior season, rushing 202 times for 1857 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Sounds like Charlie will be on this kid hard next year.

are we going to bring in a top running back this year? do we have any chance to bring in someone besides tate? i'm looking forward to having tate, but he doesn't seem to have the talent or body to play early

I would be extremely happy if we got those two. They both bring different running styles and are talented enough to play sonner rather than later. Hopefully JA and MP continue to improve and get a lot of PT next, but it would also be nice to have Hughes and Best as options.

Hopefully this paragraph means that he'll be attending ND next year, lol:

With his decision scheduled for the end of the week, does Allen foresee any particular program nosing its way out in front of the other three?

Β

"I'm not going to touch that one. On Friday everyone will find out where I'm headed and all the details. The things I'm looking for in a program are set though. Academics is most important for me - I am really serious about that. When you get injured like I was you realize you are one bad break from being finished with football, and you have to have something to back you up. I am absolutely not looking to redshirt wherever I go. I want to go somewhere that I can make an immediate impact both as a running back, a slot receiver, and even a kick returner. The last thing is the level of comfort I have with the coaches and players. I don't want to go somewhere that I regret for the next four years."

great post irishdread. ND has better academics then UF, ND is a no red shirt university, CW will use him at RB and we all know how many receptions walker has on the year. after reading that i think that ND is in a real good spot to land this kid.

Β

so he is really announcing this friday?

Don't get to excited when somebody says that school is important to them. Remember Myron Rolle wants to be a brain surgeon and goes to FSU.
