It was announced yesterday that ND will add a home game against Duke to the '07 schedule on Nov. 17th. This will be a 1-game series with no return trip to Duke. What are your opinions on this? Personally, I'm a bit leary. It always makes me cringe when I see the Irish add a notably bad team to an upcoming schedule, if nothing else for fear of media backlash about softening the schedule. I know that in reality it is a very wise move to get back into more ACC action and add another home game for revenues and win-loss records, but it's still an odd feeling to get used to. Then again, as a fan, at least it will be a little easier to get tickets..........

I Like the addition of Duke to our schedule, it should be a game that will improve our record and it will be nice to beat a Carolina school because that can help us in recruiting

I like it too. ND can make the schedule more managible without comprimising the integrity of its schedule. ND shoul schedule lower level BCS conference teams and the service acadamies and play winnable games that are respectable. In other words schedule the Duke's and Baylor's of the world and not the Central Michigan's and Western Kentucky's.

I was on another board and someone had made a great point that I'd like to relay. The thread was about the addition of Duke to the '07 schedule. There was (as always) a flamer from another team (Iowa to be exact) who popped onto the thread after about 6 posts. As expected, he was mocking ND for adding such a weak team and turning their schedule into an "average" schedule. Then the point was made that this GAME replaces a BYE week. The Irish still face the same teams they would have faced (Michigan, USC, UCLA, Purdue, etc.) but instead of taking a week off, they will be playing a team from a BCS conference (you know, that little underling known as the ACC, you may have heard of them). I just wanted to share that with everyone, in case the argument ever arises with the countless morons who speak before they think (and it will arise, I assure you). GO IRISH!

Yep, that network is plagued with crazy Iowa fans. But that is a good point in that it replaced a bye week. You can't please everyone, especially those hawkeyes. And since it's our team, why should we be expected to? lol

I'm all for the idea of scheduling lower tier BCS teams. A 12 game schedule of Syracuse, Kansas, Duke, UNC, Navy, Army, Michigan, USC (always have to have those 2), Arizona, Indiana, and Washington, would look a lot better than some of the crap schedules that Auburn and Ohio State play.

I'm from the school of thought that says "I'll worry about my schedule, you worry about yours. We'll settle any differences on the field." It never ceases to amaze me how concerned the other school's board are with ND. That's one reason why I have never posted on the BGI board, nor will I ever post on that board. I have read it daily for well over a year, but I never started posting until I registered on this site. Sure, I could get my points out to a larger audience over there, but I feel the conversations are more genuine and to the point over here.

That's why we're here. :)

People want to ridicule the Irish for scheduling Duke?

Iowa vs Northern Iowa

Florida State vs The Citadel

Michigan vs Eastern Michigan

MSU vs Kent State

Pitt vs Furman

Louisville vs Flordia Atlantic

Florida vs Wyoming

Nebraska vs Maine

I hate hypocrites.

My point exactly. But when you think about it, why should we even respond to those statements when they go completely against facts and logic. Any response simply implies that we actually had to consider the argument to come up with a retort. The facts speak for themselves, and if anyone compains about Notre Dame's strength of schedule, they MUST be reaching the bottom of the barrel.

Wyoming could surprise Florida this year other than them everyone else is a complete cupcake

I'm one of those people who enjoy's the schedule being as tough as it because when the time comes and we go 12-0, there will be no doubt who's the NC. No shared titles. Even with one loss we still have a shot at a NC. On the other hand, the schedule is so tough that a confidence booster game is not such a bad idea. We still play the toughest schedule. Bring on Duke. Go Irish!!
