Guest loweND
Anybody else perplexed by this? I mean, when Benn starting to lose interest in ND, it seemed believable. He took forever to announce - which showed he was bothered by something. He was picking up the phone, or returning calls from the ND recruiting services. But I'm not so sure I'm ready to give up hope that we get Barksdale. First of all, everybody and their brother knows that we need DTs. If we are in fact moving on from Barksdale, wouldn't we be offering another DT? And wouldn't that DT be somebody fairly attainable so that we could be certain that we had enough bodies at that position? The only reason why I can think of why we wouldn't have offered a new DT is if the coaching staff is planning on moving one of our lineman (Nkwankwo or Nuss) to the other side of the ball. But if this were the case, wouldn't we have more OL offers out? The other thing I keep thinking about is how responsible Barksdale sounded when I listened to him on Power Hour. He really sounded like a good kid, with good parents. Not the kind of guy who would screw around our staff. And then I see that rivals dropped him from 5 stars to 4 stars. Which is usually the kind of thing we see happen to ND commits.
Guest TDJesus3
Barksdale was dropped by the staff, its been confirmed by alot of sources (rivals, scout, anyone else you can think of) Peters offer was in direct response to dropping barksdale i dont know what else to tell you, but barksdale should have no problem picking OSU now
SpecialFNK
when did ND drop Barksdale? and why would they have done that? i see him still have ND listed in his schools
Guest shark83
when did ND drop Barksdale? and why would they have done that? i see him still have ND listed in his schools This all occured around the same time that "DC WR" backed off his silent commit. Supposedly Barksdale has been tOSU's all along and was just toying with ND, UM and Texas for free trips (Thus causing him to lose scholarships from those 3 schools). SpecialFNK
is there any violation in that? or is that something that would be totally allowed? doesnt show very good for his charactor, maybe he fits in good with OSU

What could you do. Thats the bad side of recruiting. All we should care about is that there are plenty of good character guys who are visiting/committing for the right reasons. Last week we got two of them.

Guest tdnd
ND can't have another recruiting year in which they ride out positional prospects such as McCoy and Lewis from last year with no idea of how it will turn out or no backup plan. Sometimes you fish and sometimes you cut bait!!
Ari Gold
A friend of mine said that he heard that Barksdale was looking for money from some of the schools, like Texas, ND, and Michigan, and they told him to screw off. He didnt mention if OSU is paying $$$, but he did say that Florida St. has come out of nowhere in this race-$$$-, and he's visiting them in December. Now this is just what I heard from a buddy, so I cannot verify it to be true, but I thought it might explain the loss of scholly.

Sometimes you fish and sometimes you cut bait!! Fishing is good, and we have a special kind of bait to offer...Notre Dame itself. But I am willing to simply cut bait...if it mean retaining our dignity, principles and morals. There are, and will be alot of young men who have these traits that are still available. irishdread
What is going on with this kid, the article this came from is dated Nov. 15: Barksdale has already visited Notre Dame (September 16). "I really like talking with (offensive coordinator) coach Michael Haywood," Barksdale said. "He talks with me about their depth chart a lot and said that they could use a big defensive lineman like me. They also really stress academics because they know that's important to me." dangeruss
beats me, this could be negative recruiting at it's best saying how ND has dropped him.
Guest TDJesus3
no ND, Michigan and Texas did all drop him and it didnt have anything to do with him verbing or his interest with any of them, it was shall we say a character/$ thing
IrishGuy
Well, I believe TD. He says he was dropped, and I believe it. ND is not permitted to talk about recruits, so the staff isn't going to confirm or deny it.....and Barksdale gets 0 benefit from saying he was dropped by 3 schools. irishdread
Sounds official to me, we definitely dont want those character issues in our program.

Guest The Army Awakens
I was told that ND officially dropped him but unlike Michigan and Texas, ND will accept his verbal if he decides to do so... So I don't think its character i think the rumors of him wanting money from Texas and Michigan were true but I don't think that he asked Charlie for the same deal... Something obviously that can be overlooked if he indeed decide to verb... Highly unlikely...
dangeruss
you've got to be kidding me. if this is true this is a perfect example as to why college athletes shouldn't get paid.
