Guest TeamUlovetohate
Interesting that Weiss comes to South Florida looking for kids to put on the OL. Alot of people in south fla. (particularly affiliated with UM) would actually prefer to recruit out of state OL kids. But i think this Nwankwo kid could develop into a really good player down the line. Could be the next great player to come out of Chaminade-madonna. He had me fooled though, i thought he was going to UF.

BG Tom1
I could be wrong on this but dont be suprised to see Emeka make a position switch to defensive tackle at Notre Dame!

IrishGuy
I could be wrong on this but dont be suprised to see Emeka make a position switch to defensive tackle at Notre Dame! I am not sure about this one BG. I believe Nuss was asked about playing DT, and I know JT was, but I think Emeka is targeted to stay on the OL. That's a good problem to have, a prospect that we aren't sure where he'll play and can play multiple positions.

I've read where Nuss was asked to possibly make a switch if need be. And B&G has noted that Emeka could possibly go either way. I highly doubt though that Trattou will switch to DT, I don't think he would be able to add the needed weight. Plus he will be a beast at DE

BG Tom1
I am almost positive Coach Weis spoke with him about playing defense and Emeka was intrigued by the opportunity.

irishdread
When the recruiting process began, Emeka Nwankwo already knew when he wanted to end it. But as the 6-foot-3, 285-pound offensive lineman from Hollywood, Fla., learned more and more about his college options, he quickly learned that ending his recruitment before his senior season at Chaminade-Madonna Prep would make for a tough task. Nwankwo has been learning toward Notre Dame over co-favorite Florida for weeks. Nwankwo discovered that playing with a distraction beat making a commitment mistake. Tuesday, Nwankwo decided that he knew enough about Notre Dame to commit to the Irish over Florida, Florida State and Virginia. Georgia and Miami were also under consideration. Nwankwo is the 10th verbal commitment in Notre Dame's recruiting class and second on the offensive line, joining Andrew Nuss of Virginia. "I don't think he was ready to make a decision before the year," said Chaminade-Madonna coach Mark Guandolo. "You hate to make a commitment and then have a kid want to get out of it. I'm a stickler on that. When you make a commitment, we're going to honor that. We're going to be sure to honor that." Guandolo said that Nwankwo has been learning toward Notre Dame over co-favorite Florida for weeks, that the offensive lineman needed to clear the decision to leave home with his parents before committing to Charlie Weis. Nwankwo has a sister enrolled at Florida. "The biggest thing keeping him from committing soon was the concern about going away form his family because his family is very close," Guandolo said. "His parents really researched it and they're big into academics and education. They gave him their blessing to go to Notre Dame. "That's when he decided." Nwankwo took his official visit to Notre Dame on Sept. 8 during the Penn State weekend. Guandolo said the trip was part of the program's refined approach to courting his top offensive lineman. "Notre Dame did it very professionally," Guandolo said. "They were very up front, honest and said that they wanted him. There was nothing pressurized. They said they wanted to make sure he knew what he wanted to do. They really wanted him, that was big thing, they let him know that he was wanted there." Nwankwo first popped up on the recruiting radar last spring during a Nike Camp stop at Miami on April 9. The offensive lineman caught the eye of many college coaches in attendance, backing up what Guandolo had been telling recruiters. "He's a big kid that's very athletic and runs well," Guandolo said. "If you can get an offensive lineman that's that athletic, I think the sky's the limit. He's been on a whirlwind since last spring being one of the top offensive linemen in the country. It's been crazy." Freebie from rivals.
