dangeruss
rivals still has ND as one of his favorites but i believe that Virgina Tech maybe the team to beat. when ND losses benn any chance ND goes after jay smith hard. http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=49695&Sport=
Guest TDJesus3
Va tech seems to have taken the lead, even though i thought it would be Miami, he looked at ND and i was told that he was told we were full at Wideout (this was obviously back in July, before our EE debacale). It looks like he is slow playing his recruitment so maybe the staff makes a push
Scotty88
Let's hope TD. If I remember correctly, his father spoke very highly of ND and the staff.

Scotty, you're right, B&G had a good article on Jay Smith a while ago and that was mentioned
Guest NEIrish
I believe Golden Tate is still on ND's board...waiting for grades??...so if Benn goes to ILL. then we offer Jay Smith and Golden?? to go with Kamara...sounds like ND could make up for the loss of Benn. Also, McKnight and Little still on board with an offer. We have options....

Even if we do land Benn and Tate passes ND admissons, I believe Tate would be brought in as an Athlete and staff finds a position for him later. Jay Smith already has an offer. Been rumored to have been done to VT/'Tha U' for awhile. However, Smith was orginally scheduled to announce on October 26, after his visit. Then things got interesting. Needless to say, he cancelled his visit to VT and didn't set a new date for when he'll anounce. This all went down around the same time the whole Benn down to Illinoise, 'Noles, and Turtles & Benn not being allowed EE by ND admissions. Did I mentioned that he also then mentioned he could possibly take an official to ND? You've got to think CW has doing a lot of work behind close doors on the recruiting front. MikejND
I'm from the Tidewater area in Virginia and Jay Smith is not sold on Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech has always been King in our area, but for some reason, top recruits have cooled on Tech. Jay and Tyrod are on different sides of the water, and where Tyrod is from, it's hard to take recruits from VT... If he was going to be a Hookie, Jay would've commited already. I was surprised to see he didn't jump on board a long time ago. He's definately waiting on something. I dont know if it's ND though... I"ll say this.. If Charlie and staff are going after Jay as hard as we say. We will definately have a shot at him. A definate shot. Trust me.
Guest TDJesus3
he will visit, not sure if its an official or unofficial, but he did say in the recent article he wants to visit ND
MikejND
TD, I think we should really push with Jay, He's a good kid too, from a good area. He could fit in at ND, and the social life wouldn't be a problem, nor the weather.
Guest NEIrish
So, this becomes very interesting. Kamara is in. Benn is waiting. Jay Smith has an offer, McKnight has an offer, Little has offer. Tate may soon get an offer. So, lets play Coach Weis for a minute. Has stated that he likes inter-changeable parts (Pats way) and wants kids who want to come to ND. All the players above are highly rated so they can be coached to be great at ND. If I'm Coach Weis I set a deadline for Benn without EE. In he gets the next WR spot, out we move on. Little is on the board next. He can play several positions but gets next crack at WR. Set deadline with Little. Tate is next. From what I read on this board, likes ND and takes offer and commits. Tate can also play several positions. Smith and McKnight are last only because they have not visited yet. If Benn is off the board at this point (ILL.) then I have Kamara and Tate committed possible with Little. Host Smith and McKnight late in the year. My guess is that ND will not fill their class so they can afford to take both Smith and McKnight if they had the opportunity. Then go more defensive in 08 class. We could end up with Kamara, Smith and McKnight at WR, Tate and Little at any number of positions to get on the field early. Sounds like a winner to me...but I know nothing...I see nothing... Guest TDJesus3
well i think you will see them push for him if Benn indeed passes, otherwise i dont think there would be room i agree he would be a good fit and a big time player

rdrdreamer
if ND could land jay smith and greg little i would not care one bit if benn went to Illinois. I totally agree with your assessment here 'danger'. I mean, sure we are dealing with young fragile ego's, but Notre Dame offers what few other Universities offer...an education, national visability through a traditional program that plays on television most Saturdays and not the least...an academic and social bonding that will carry on throughout ones career and lifetime. Arrelious Benn is a very talanted young man. I wish him the best in his future endevours, surely I do. But it is time to consider he may not be here come fall or spring. It is time to bring in another receiver to compliment Kamara...who I need not remind everyone is qiute a receiver in his own right. No matter who committs, be it Little, Tate, Smith or possibly McKnight they will receive as good as they offer. I am almost positive that Coach Weis lets each and every recruit know from the bottom of his heart that...to a person we can win a National Championship. I am also sure that he conveys we are not just trying to have a top five recruiting class, nor are we to be satisfied with 9-3 each and every year. Our One Goal...Our Pursose Is To Win The National Championship! Arrelious Benn...you will suceed much no matter where you land...this I have no doubts. Can you be that missing piece elsewhere? Will you really be the difference in going to a National Championship with the other schools you are considering? But lastly Arrelious Benn...will the other programs offer enough to get you a championship or will individual accomplishments be your legacy? Scotty88
NEIrish, dont forget about Gerald Jones.. I like that kid Amen. Me too. Hope he's knocked off his feet for Army game. Frosh, or anyone on campus......do you know if there are welcoming signs for all recruits on officials or if its just the occasional thing like w/ Miller? If so, I hope there's something for Gerald, he's a favorite w/ many on DD, myself included. You could plug him in about anywhere and he'd make something happen. FROSH
i haven't seen any others, but perhaps i could do something. i played ping pong with g west tonight and i kind of wanted to ask him about recruiting, but we kept talking about walk on kicking cause my friend wants to punt and i want to place kick. perhaps next time. also wanted to say that WR should come to ND because Weis will make even the average receivers look good. i can't wait to see what he does with the best talent under him for four years. With the Pats Weis made a bunch of disciplined receivers look great. not to say they weren't talented, but he really brought out the best in them. I think that our defense needs talent even more than our offense, because our offensive scheme is so successful while our defense is still lacking. also, i can't wait for G west to finally have another kick kicked to him. dangeruss
MikejND, great info on jay smith. i would love if ND landed this guy, he'd be another 6'4 athletic WR to go along with kamara. i really hope ND starts pushing hard for him, i think if we get him on campus that should really improve our chances.
