nd1baby
Pretty sobering and realistic. Question is will CW make offers to more 3 stars just to get the number of bodies to 25 or leave some slots unfilled?
dangeruss
if CW can't fill the 25 man class i don't think it'll be a big deal, just means he can bring in more in '
patches12345
Don't lose the faith in CW. Do you see any new offers other than Peters? He has stated he fill the class and he will. Believe in it Go Irish!
Guest AtlantaIrish
I know Charlie is a good recruiter, but what about Minter? We need some defensive studs and it appears they are either heading to Michigan, Ohio State, or USC. Minter needs to get in these kid's ears and tell them that they have a chance to start right away. The main reason why we haven't been top 5 the last two years is because of the lack of talent and depth on our defense. Is Martez Wilson pretty much a done deal to Ohio State or are you just making a presumption?
dangeruss
Is Martez Wilson pretty much a done deal to Ohio State or are you just making a presumption? right now wilson's top three are ND, OSU and Illinois. i guess that wilson has developed an accademic issue as of late and scouts has him listed with OSU as his leader, so thats why i believe he'll be a buckeye. Guest The Army Awakens
With the nine commits already I envision we take the most obvious impact players for next year then we come up with surprises in the very end to round it off but I don't think we take a full class if russ predictions are correct... Then we would just pick up more in the 08 class that has more potential than the 07 class Notre Dame wise... Why are guys like Rojo and Austin even Barks still listing ND... what is going on there with Weis to keep his whispers in their ears... I don't think its just publicity either... These are the only recruits as of right now I believe will committ to Notre Dame by signing day... Harrison Smith Greg Little Arrellious Benn Chris Donald Armando Allen Matt Romine Major Wright Joe Mcknight That leaves eight spots left and I think we pull a few surprises ala Sam Young last year... But I think especially if we go play the SEC team in the Sugar Bowl, Auburn or Florida and make another statement along with the one on Nov. 25th the players will buy in just like the media will when we prove we can beat a top ten team. Guest AtlantaIrish
just keep winning and the recruits will come. A win at USC plus a good bowl performance would change a lot of these recruit's minds and I think we could sway a McKnight or even a Tyler back to the Irish. Recruits want to go where they know they can win big games, get bowl rings, and be set up for the pros.
FROSH
Chris Donald will be one of the best things to happen to ND this year if we get him. besides JC

rdrdreamer
crazier things have happened dreamer. i'm hoping that we get ben, griffen, or mcknight i'd be psyched Hey Frosh...just read an old post from 'Svoboda' at IrishEnvy, back in May 2006. He was reading on how Carroll advised McKnight about him being able to "be the next 'Reggie Bush"? Its this fact and other's that may seem petty but is why I feel Tyler could become Irish? Pete (reminds me of Clinton) Carroll is fond of loading up on running backs. Can Tyler share this load with others? Will he accept that he may be limited due to the overflow of backs already there...and more being recruited? Just a thought. Griffen...alot of upside, is going to be an impact NFL player one day. I feel that TV exposure on the West Coast will be limited due to the new ABC/Big Ten agreement's. Sure USC will get its share of TV, but with Cal and Oregon on the rise, they will have to share. Griffen just may prefer the luxury of the same type of tradition and hype as USC with the Irish...but with NBC promoting him almost weekly? FROSH
dreamer i like to see you quickly becoming one of the more informative and knowledgeable posters on the board. Svoboda's opinion deserves a lot of respect. i remember that being talked of as well. some mentioned Tyler possibly becoming an LB. i guess i see his persona fitting in more comfortably at USC, however you're right that he may see a greater oppurtunity to play at ND. hopefully some of the more talented recruits will come to realize that there is a lot of room to play early and often at ND. also charlie is excellent at developing players into NFL caliber material. charlie will still put together an impressive class, whether we are impressed with it now or in a couple years will be the only difference. Guest NDEagles379
Ari Gold, That is exactly my class prediction. We think alike. I'm really crossing my fingers on Allen and Tez, as well as Ben Martin. Adding those 3 could really make the class. I see Griffen and McKnight and Tyler as longshots, although McKnight is possible. Hopefully Charlie can pick up another DT as well, maybe an under the radar type guy. We need numbers there since we lack quality and depth at this point. Guest NDEagles379
Well I guess I need to take Michael Williams off my prediction now that he has named Michigan his leader. That hurts. I mentioned this yesterday though. He could pull a Marc Tyler (although he didn't choose us) and let the excitement of the official visit wear off, and decide he really wants to go to ND. I bet he sees Leon Hall being a first round pick and sees Lambert and co. get burnt for TDs. Their D-Coord., Ron English, is the reason they are the #2 team in the nation. He has really taken them to the next level, despite the troubles against Ball St. I hate Michigan!
rdrdreamer
Yes, it looks a little 'glum' in regards to Williams. Not a shut door, but seems to be closing? I say seems because the the article is by The GoBlueWolverine Staff, and of course appears put on paper with a bit of a spin towards a Michigan lean? Still, it would have sounded better with a more neutral sound... Everyone is looking for an edge, aren't we?
