I saw a thread earlier that was talking about transportation from the airport, what are some options/places that visitors need to go to when in town?

I am going up with some college friends for the Texas A&M game and we were curious about bars/restaurants and fine dining options. We want to have one really nice dinner and then also go to some local staples as well as know the famous bars we should go to and what not.

At Texas A&M we have Northgate, which is like our bar district, was wanting to know if there’s something similar for Notre Dame

When do you arrive? If you arrive mid afternoon or earlier on Friday I suggest checking out Campus, take your time to walk around the different areas perhaps the tunnel tour, visit the on campus bookstore on Friday (less busy) . Maybe grab a bite a quick lunch and a beer at O'Rourkes across the street at Eddy Street Commons or there are a few other choices.

Friday Night - I like to go to Fiddler's Hearth in downtown South Bend. Great live Irish Music and traditional pub fare. It will be busy. If you want the dive bar experience I suggest The Linebacker Lounge on Friday night after dinner. Some people like Corby's and while I have driven by have never been inside.

Also at Eddy Street Commons there is a bar called Brothers which will be packed.

All depends on when you arrive but with it being a night game you have time if you want to grab Pizza at Rocco's Saturday for lunch before heading over the Campus for tailgating etc. Bring a backpack throwaway cooler if you like / not buying a parking pass or a ticket for a tailgate and wander around and enjoy a beverage or two if you wish.

Don’t bother to go to the Glo-Worm.
