Hey just wanted to reach out in here. I will be traveling to the campus for a few games this season. What is the best hotel to stay at? I saw the Morris Inn. I was just curious what’s the go to spot and what’s the easiest way to travel to and from the airport? Just Uber or do they have shuttles running from the airport?

One time will be with my family and another time will be with my employees. Let me know if that changes the decision either way. Thank you guys!

First, there are basically no shuttles from the airport. There is Uber or taxis from the airport. I am not sure how reliable Uber is during football weekends.

Flying into South Bend for a football weekend will come at a premium. It will be cheaper to fly into either Chicago airport. You can rent a car and obviate the need for Uber. You might also look at flying into Indy or possibly Fort Wayne. Chicago is about 2 hours away; Indy is a little over 2 hours; and Fort Wayne is over an hour away.

The Morris Inn is right on campus and thus very convenient and likely very expensive if you can get in. That is a hub for big deal donors and alums. Within walking distance at Eddy Street Commons, there is a Fairfield Inn and an Embassy Suites. For football weekends, I think most hotels in South Bend require a three night minimum and they will be much more expensive than typical periods.

You may also want to consider AirBnB, especially for your family. You can get what you need at a price that is competitive with hotels. Regardless, you should start considering accommodations now as they fill up whether AirBnB or hotels.

Morris Inn - Great location but I doubt you can get in on a game weekend. If your budget allows stay at the Embassy Suites beside Campus or consider an Air B&B, preferably near Eddy Street Commons.

Lots of other hotels near Campus at various price levels (all usually expensive for what you get on game weekends)

Friday Night I love going for dinner at Fiddlers Hearth in Downtown South Bend. Good bands, it will be busy / packed but I enjoy this.

If you are up for a good college dive bar then head to the Linebacker Lounge after dinner on Friday night for cheap beer and slippery floors.

O'Rourkes on Friday for a pint....make sure to go to the Grotto....at night.....also do the on campus bookstore on Friday preferably early in the afternoon.
