I saw this game and I really thought, “Well, Miami is a wicked team! World beaters. I honestly didn’t think we would win. I felt the same tonight. Are we at THAT level yet? I didn’t think so. Today I thought if we could squeak out a win then, who knows but the SEC Champs? I set myself up to be let down tonight and thankful for a run that might help recruiting. Not anymore! I think we can play with the best of them! GO IRISH!

This reminded me of the Sugar Bowl against UF.

Great win over a very very talented Georgia team. I would not consider the 2024 Georgia team to be dominant in the way the 1988 Miami team was dominant. Until we beat them (and I was there), Miami was the undisputed best team in college football. As good as Georgia is, it is not a Miami ‘88 level team.

This Notre Dame team does have some similarities to the ND ‘88 team. We are well coached and disciplined (don’t get distracted by all of the penalties yesterday). We have veterans and youngsters. We have players who are exceeding their high school star ratings. We have an undercurrent of belief.

I disagree, and I was at the 88 Miami game. The difference is that 88 Miami team had as good a team as any during their dynasty in 88 and was on the road. Nevertheless, it was the de facto National Championship game and we won. We were the underdogs and beat the best.

Though still a very good team, this is not a peak Georgia team, was without their first team QB, and was at a neutral site. I'm not sure what to compare it to, but beating Ohio State in the NC game would be more like the 88 game, and would certainly be like the 1973 Sugar Bowl game where we beat Alabama for the NC. That's my dream scenario for this year.

Winning 11 games during the regular season and one playoff game was my expectation for this team at the beginning of the year.

Getting to the final four has already exceeded my hopes.

My dream scenario: Beat Texas in the championship game. I really dislike both Ohio State and Texas. Fans from both teams are truly obnoxious. But I live in Texas and am surrounded by burnt orange every weekend. Would love to beat them. And their cornerback, #16: such a dirty player. Ripping off Skattebo’s helmet the way he did…

But, that’s a dream for another time.

Gotta beat Penn State first. I don’t despise Penn State. Unless ND is playing them…

This would be an ideal scenario for me, so here’s to hoping it comes true! 🤞🏼

But yes, beat Penn State first!

No effing way. I want Ohio State in the final. We had them beat last season if not for a stupid coaching mistake. Beating Ohio State shuts up everyone. Plus how could anyone want to pass on the chance to crush Ryan Day’s chances at a championship again. Losing would suck regardless of it being Texas or OSU. Winning will be euphoric regardless of who ND beats. But I guarandamntee it will be sooooooooooooooo much sweeter beating Ohio State.

You apparently are not surrounded by burnt orange every Saturday. Ohio State fans are probably the most obnoxious in all of college football. Beating OSU would be fantastic. But, living in Texas, beating UT would, to me, be much sweeter than beating OSU.

I will take a win either way.

But, gotta be in the moment to win the moment. And the moment is Penn State. ND, be in the moment.

I would agree here as well!

But yes, be in the moment to win the moment is the most important objective, so yes, beat Penn State! Go Irish!!!
