Guest TDJesus3
Rivals and other sources are reporting that Butch Davis is taking over at UNC, the deal is not final but should be by the end of the weekend with an announcement next week interesting to see how GLittle reacts Butch can recruit this much we know
paisan78
Wow, I can't see Little coming to ND now, UNC couldn't have done any better than Butch Davis and I cannot blame any kid for not wanting to play for him. Guess we'll see, but my money is on Little to UNC now
NicePost
I know little of Butch Davis, but why would UNC be a slam dunk for Little now? Does he compare that well with Charlie?
SpecialFNK
when Butch Davis was at Miami he was great at recruiting, yes? ..but couldnt that also have to do with being in the state of Florida and therefor getting top notch in state players beause Florida is so well known for top recruits? could he recruit the same way in North Carolina? TheRizz
I could be WAY wrong about this...but wasn't the head coach at Rutgers the recruiting cordinator at Miami during B Davis's tenure? I thought that was why he was in such high demand for Rutgers because he could bring in the elite athletes to that program. If it wasn't the Rutgers coach it was another nationally known recruiting mastermind I just can't remember.
Guest VagasFerguson44
Sorry to say it, but, GLittle is now a "lock" for UNC! I really wanted this guy. Could have been a RB, WR, or LB.

Guest shark83
All I keep thinking about is the quote from that D.J. Donley article over the summer where he basically said ND wouldn't offer him because they were done at WR. I think I'm gonna go throw up
IrishLeopard
i dont see why little would be a lock to go to unc......even with butch davis there it will still take a few years to make the program respectable again with as little talent as they have.......does little really want to be part of that? BG Tom1
I would compare this situation to when Spurrier took over at South Carolina. His former job was better than the one hes got now type thing. Butch was my coach with the Browns and he stunk! I know college is different and thats when he was at his best but North Carolina is not Miami! By the way... Pete Garcia was the recruiting architect at Miami during Davis tenure and he isnt gonna be there to reel in the biggest of the big recruits! Garcia was our version of Vinny Cerrato during the Holtz days!
Guest TeamUlovetohate
Davis will have that program rollin' in a few years. North Carolina produced some top notch high school talent. I guess this means that Coker COULD be back next year.

rocketsurgery
think back to charlie's first recruiting class. Why didn't we land more top guys that year? Becuase he was too late to develop the relationships with the recruits. Every other coach had been working those recruits for months ( if not years). It is hard to make up that much ground. Now granted, if Davis takes over now, he won't be as behind as charlie was, but he still will be trailing the pack. Sure, he's a name guy. But so was Charlie. The recruits didn't just jump on board. Davis's fisrt job will be to line up assistants. Well, immediately after contacting the current verbals and persuading them stay put. It's important to remember that recruiting is not a static situation, but one that is in a constant state of flux. As in all things, neither get too high nor too low. Guest SirJohn
I think quite honestly guys...look back at the negative media in 2005, Charlie's guys came out from nowhere and grabbed a flock of 25 good players. This sent shockwaves to the other schools. Remeber guys? We were no longer relivant. but went 9-3 played mighty USC to a 3 point loss. Even the Ohio State loss didn't hurt that much. We were floating along OK till that bonehead group around JC helped the S*** hit the fan. The "negative" exploded after that. media, recruiting and as you know anything goes in recruiting dog eat dog. I've tracked it all fairly well and can say this as I know. irishdread
They key to the Butch Davis, Greg Little and UNC situation, is if Butch decides to keep any of the remaining staff members. If its a complete overhaul of coaches, Greg Little will be Irish. If he keeps any of the coaches thats there right now that Little may have a relationship with, then he may choose UNC, thats what I think.
