A&M dropped from AP. Army is up to #24. A&M is #26 Louisville is #27.

So dumb that PSU is still ranked ahead of ND. Hopefully the committee thinks the opposite.

CFP Rankings updated. A&M dropped. Army back in at #24. Our lone ranked win. That hurts.

I still think ND will jump PSU if they lose in the conference championship game unless it is an overtime thriller type of game.

I would agree.

I love the idea of the 12 team playoff but until there are some clear cut guidelines (Other than conference champs get top seeds) it will look messy and make no sense to me. How Alabama is still in makes no sense and neither does Penn State being where they are. I cant rant for hours but the commitee has some splainin’ to do, and they will again after the chaos coming this week. :)

It’s definitely imperfect as is.

Yeah, I’m soooooooo annoyed with Alabama being in there! It just never fails that the Committee finds a way to put them in! 🙄

And I don’t care if they are 3-1 vs Top-25 ranked teams. Those teams are from the SEC, and they have not been good this season! Georgia Tech really should have beaten Georgia! 😑

While I have always disliked Alabama, taking my personal animus aside, I wonder what the Vegas line would be in any of the following games, with Alabama being the visiting team in all of them:
Alabama v Boise State

Alabama v SMU

Alabama v Indiana

Alabama v Arizona State

Alabama v Clemson

Alabama v Miami

Alabama v Notre Dame

My guess is that Alabama would be favored in all of those games, except maybe Notre Dame. If that is the case, then Alabama probably deserves to be in the playoff. It is absolutely speculation on my part, but I’m trying to look at it objectively, removing my dislike for Alabama and the SEC as a whole (and that is very hard to do. Not as hard as doing it for Michigan or Ohio State, but very hard). When you look at the talent levels on various teams, Alabama certainly is near the very top. They have lost some games this year, no doubt.

Excellent point. My counter would be, Alabama has looked nothing like the Bama of last year. They lost to 2 6-6 teams and have been very mediocre in quite a few other games. I think we are being reminded of nostalgia that isn’t there anymore.

Nostalgia for sure. And, being the coach the followed Saban, well, I doubt he will last more than 3 years.

Not the same coaching, but they do have players out the wazoo, and the 2025 recruiting class is excellent too. Couple that with ‘Bama’s FPI OF 4 (4!), and I still think they are a force to be reckoned with.

And if I had to lay money on it today, I would bet ‘Bama is ND’s first round opponent.

Good points!

If Alabama does still make it in the CFP, which I’m sure they will, I want them to be Notre Dame’s first opponent!

Bring it on!!
