I agree that the tandem is a good replacement for Estime. I would like to see them both get more carries as I think a homerun is possible every time that they touch the ball.

Yeah, agreed! They definitely need more carries because they’re home run threats every time they touch the ball, as you said! I had even said that if Love was getting as many carries as Jeanty, he might be in the Hesiman conversation too!

Would they both be as effective with say 200+ carries?

I think they’ve done very well to keep them both on a β€œpitch count” so to speak.

I agree with you if needed Saturday or later on. But right now they are in a perfect spot to carry the ball to wherever the finish line is this season/

I look at it from when Lou was HC. We had a lot of really good running backs on those teams, no one was the bell cow perse. Two had NFL HOF careers with Bettis and Watters.

With Love for instance, the pro scouts were taking notice of him from last year and before this season, without a lot of production in his career. He doesn't need gaudy numbers and has shown freak athleticism that will have him playing on Sundays.

Spreading carries between him and Price with a sprinkle of Williams works pretty good. Next season will be more of the same presuming no one transfers, and IF Payne comes back to form look out, plus we have the other FR back who I predict will be another good one.

With RL being the running threat he is with the backs I have been over the moon with nostalgia from those Lou teams I so fondly remember. Too bad they didn't realize that against NIU…

I agree with you there. I guess I was talking about 20+ carries for Love, and at least 15+ carries for Price a game. I guess I’m still bitter about NIU, but at least they are taking full advantage now!

loaded for me @Mike did the embed load for you?

It’s showing as a black screen for me. It’s probably related to the embed bug. Hopefully it’s patched soon

I wish we hadn’t lost to NIU, but if we had won, and if we were undefeated, we would be in the EXACT same position we are now, so big picture, it didn’t hurt us.

Yes, that is very true!
