  • Army IS 9-0. You cannot dismiss that. But… here’s who they’ve played: Lehigh, Florida Atlantic, Rice, Temple, Tulsa (that leaves a bad taste), UAB, E. Carolina, Air Force, and North Texas. I don’t

I don’t think it’ll be like 2012. This team is better than that team in every way minus the regular season loss. In all honesty I don’t even think Miami is that great. They could just as easily be 6-4 as they are 9-1. I only bring up Miami because ND was supposed to play Miami this season and Miami pulled out. Army is the replacement. I just think ND would get more out of beating Miami than beating Army.

I think it helps that ND is actually playing man to man coverage, I’d like to play an SEC schedule once and get a real apples to apples evaluation, I know unpopular opinion alert.

I agree that this team is much better than the 2012 team! In every phase, every position, and coaching! For me, it’s not even close!

Agreed. Much more complete team than we’ve had for a long time.

But young. I worry some about coverage matchups outside in the playoffs (and our depth at corner), but ya never know who we’ll draw. I feel like they can play with anyone providing some bounces go our way.

Is going to be a wild playoff, hopefully starting in South Bend!

I just heard that ND is playing Army in Yankee Stadium on the 100th anniversary of their first game against each other at Yankee Stadium in 1924. It will also be the same with USC and the Coliseum. First game there was 1924 as well. Granted, its not the same Yankee Stadium of course, and I don’t know how much renovation was done to the Coliseum.

This year is the hundred anniversary of the game against Army that led to Grantland Rice coining the phrase “Four Horsemen” in reference to ND’s backfield.

Below is a good article about the history of that game and article.
