As I am going through these games, I'll put who I am rooting for if it helps ND. ND is in the playoffs if they win out, no doubt about that now. But now I am rooting for the highest seed possible. I think the #5 seed is still in play for ND, but they will need a LOT of help to get it.

14 ranked teams play decent games this week.

Friday Night
7:00 - California @ Wake Forest - ACCN - decent game
8:00 - Iowa @ UCLA - ESPN - decent game

Morning Games (Saturday)
11:00 - #4 Miami @ Georgia Tech - ESPN - A Tech victory would help ND by building its resume and pushing a team down ahead of ND. While the ACC champ will be ahead of ND at the end, it prevents the chances of two being ahead of ND at the end in case of an upset.
11:00 - Florida @ #5 Texas - ABC - Ill probably be rooting for Florida just so Texas has a 2nd loss, but this game may not mean much for ND in the grand scheme of things
11:00 - Minnesota @ Rutgers - NBC - Competitive game
11:00 - Syracuse @ Boston College - CW - Competitive game
11:00 - West Virginia @ Cincinnati - FS1 - Not sure about either of these teams, but could be competitive if there are a lot of blowouts
12:00 - Navy @ South Florida - ESPN2 - Would still like to see Navy finish strong with 10 wins and maybe slide into their conference championship game.

Afternoon Games (Saturday)
2:30 - #3 Georgia @ #16 Ole Miss - ABC - This may be a very good game and a 2nd loss for Georgia would help ND.
2:30 - Michigan @ #8 Indiana - CBS - I am a fan of Indiana and will be rooting for them to win, but them losing would help ND.
2:30 - #25 Army @ North Texas - ESPN2 - We want Army to be undefeated and ranked when we play them.
2:30 - Duke @ NC State - ACCN - Should be competitive
3:00 - #20 Colorado @ Texas Tech - FOX - Colorado has surpassed many expectations, against a weak schedule though.
3:15 - South Carolina @ Vanderbilt - SECN - Two very interesting teams right now, may not mean much for the CFP, but it should be entertaining

Evening Games (Saturday)
6:30 - Florida State @ #10 Notre Dame - NBC - Go Irish!!
6:30 - #11 Alabama @ #15 LSU - ABC - Doesnt really matter who wins here, so Ill be rooting against BK
6:45 - Oklahoma @ #24 Missouri - SECN - meh, could be competitive
7:00 - Washington @ #6 Penn State - Peacock - PSU is overrated, Ill be rooting for the upset
7:00 - Nevada @ #12 Boise State - FOX - Only because BSU is a playoff team, only a very slight chance of upset

Late Night Game (Saturday)
9:15 - #9 BYU @ Utah - ESPN - Either Big12 champ or Boise State will be seeded ahead of ND.

A lot of great games this week!

Friday: I’ll more than likely be watching both, but mostly interested in Iowa @ UCLA.

Saturday -Β

Morning: Miami @ Georgia Tech, because this upset would be great for Notre Dame! Navy @ South Florida, and hoping Navy recovers!

Afternoon: Georgia @ Ole Miss to hope for an upset! Michigan @ Indiana sounds good, and as much as it pains me, I want Indiana to win! Colorado @ Texas Tech because why not.

Evening: Florida State @ Notre Dame - Go Irish!!!

Late Night: BYU @ Utah in hopes of another upset!

I do agree that if Notre Dame wins out, they’ll end up at #5, or at the worst #7. Man, it really would be great to have a home playoff game for the first round!

I think ND will need some help to get to #5, especially with the Oregon and Ohio State situation. Also, if an undefeated team loses in their conference championship game.

I do not think ANY 2-loss team will jump ND unless they are a conference champ.

I think if ND continues to win these games by a wide margin (which is likely for the next 3 games), they could jump teams like Penn State who have 1-loss, because PSU will not have a better wins than ND, only any better loss, which ND would have clearly overcome.

Hate to admit it but we should probably root for LSU Saturday.Β  A third loss for Alabama should knock them out and keep them out.Β  No chance at sneaking back in as the SEC champ.Β  If LSU wins we shouldΒ be ranked ahead of them so long as we win out since we would have beaten both teams that LSU lost to, A&M and USC.Β  Of course we could always hope for another Clark Lea Vandy upset in a few weeks and this would all be moot.Β Β

I would also be ok with BK never winning another game ever again though.Β

This I agree with, and especially what you said at the end! Win out, and they should be just fine!

This is tough for me, because I do hate both teams almost equally. I think I would rather hope for another Vandy win! πŸ˜‚

Miami-GTech. This one is easy, always pull for GT against Miami. This year, next year, etc.

Florida-Texas. Not a fan of either team but go Florida. They win a few more games and they’ll keep the HC for a few more years….and probably be mediocre for a few more years.

Navy-USF. Go NavyΒ

Georgia-Ole Miss. Gotta pull for Ole Miss here.Β

Michigan-Indy. It probably hurts ND, but go Indy.Β

Colorado-TxTech. Go TxTech. When CU loses, not much news out about Deion, which is a good thing.

So Carolina-Vandy. Pulling for Clark Lea and Vandy!

FSU-ND. Difficult to understand how FSU became so bad so quickly.Β

bama-LSU. Can they both lose?Β

Washington-PSU. Pulling for the Huskies here.

BYU-Utah. Utah was a model of consistency, what happened to them? Not quite as bad as the FSU downfall, but still. Even so,hope they can win this game though.

ND will easily get home field for the 1st round if they win out. That, I have no doubt. I think #6 seed is most likely, #5 if there are specific upsets in favor of ND, #7-8 if there are upsets in championship games.

So you’re saying your hatred for Michigan means more to you than your love for Notre Dame. Got it.

Yeah, at first glance, it sure seems like that. Lol. I don’t have an extreme hatred for Michigan. I have some very fond memories of playing in a few Volleyball tournaments there. But that’s besides the point.

I always pull for the likes of Northwestern, Vandy and schools in the same situation that are up against it when it comes to competing against the bigger boys week in and week out. In football, Indiana U can fit in there. So to me, they are a β€œfeel-good” story this season. So is Vandy!

But the way I’m looking at is like this: The Irish win out and they’re in, no matter what Indiana does. If ND stumbles and loses another game, they will have 2 bad losses and probably aren’t getting in anyways, again with whatever happens with Indiana. Also Indiana still has to play Ohio St. and they’re probably not winning that one.

Indiana beating Michigan probably is not going to have much effect on ND’s playoff chances. At least I hope not! For the record, I think the Irish win out and get a good seed.

It won’t have an effect on the Irish making the playoff but it sure could have an effect on their seeding. An Indiana loss to Michigan, a hopeful win against Ohio State, and a hopeful Michigan win against Ohio State(highly unlikely this season unfortunately) would do wonders for the Irish chances of moving up to the 5-7 range. Of course other games also need to break correctly for the Irish but that’s what makes college football so much more fun to me. Rooting interests all over the place, rooting for teams that I don’t like under most circumstances. Seven degrees of Kevin Bacon type shit lol.
