FaithInIrish Forever
@Mike I'm tired. If you think of a better title that'd be awesome but I saw cumulative ratings on Twitter from Pro Football Focus and thought it belonged in a bye week thread since it spoke to all 5 games.
EddieAngel
Much needed bye. Random thoughts: 1. Conditioning looked great at A&M, with the number of key injuries, looks more like a pig under the lipstick. 2. The offensive line should not be taking any time off. Practice. Leonard needs time to throw from the pocket if we want to beat USC plus all the other teams in route. 3. Freeman needs to get some dudes together and watch some game tape. There are some glaring issues and this is the time to scheme those away. The offense is not great, play to their strengths. 1

I do think it's unfair to blame coaches for a lot of these injuries. If that is what you are saying anyways 🙂 We have seen guys get rolled up on, tackled by illegal tackles and freak non contact injuries. If we were seeing hamstrings and such I would agree, conditioning is playing a part but with what we have seen I think it's more bad luck than anything else 2
Baldy
I’ll give my analysis here in a bit, but this I had to share because it’s too good! 😛 1
jessemoore97
Never overlook Bye. One of these days they're going to put everything together, and I'd hate to be the team that has to face that squad... 2

Draw up some new plays and formations that can take advantage of what we have. I saw a great play Miami hit a TD with against VT on short yardage with a jumbo package. Play action fake for a dive, TE "whiffed" on a block and hit the seam with no one covering him for a TD. Novel idea it doesn't have to be Evans that releases on the route, since everyone would key on him for such a play... Two back sets with Price and Love.
4thand1
I was as happy about the Louisville win as I was pissed about the NIU loss. ND beat a good Louisville team with several key players out with injuries. The NIU loss was inexcusable particularly after getting a pass after similar losses in previous years. I am happy with the coordinators. Golden needs to improve the run defense but overall great defensive performances so far. I truly believe that Denbrock is a championship level OC that is dealing with a bad hand he was dealt. Just wait till he has the QB he prerfers and a more experienced OL. You will see an offense that is much different and better than what we see now. The HC just seems to be a deer in the headlights to me. I believe he thinks he knows more than he actually does. He should be listening more to his coordinators more than he's telling them what to do. Concentrate more on getting your players to run through a brick wall for you and he would be better off. Baldy
This Bye Week really is coming at the perfect time! Give the guys some much needed rest to take a breath and recover, and also re-focus now that they’re 4-1. Positives: Defense! Clearly the best unit on the team, and averaging 11.2 points per game! That right there is a championship level defense! Running Game! I would argue Top-5 in the FBS easily, with both Love and Price averaging like 6.5 yards per carry! Ridiculous! Things to work on are O-Line and Passing Consistency. The biggest issue I see right now with the O-Line is Spindler. He had way too many procedural penalties and was getting beat a lot against Louisville. Not good, and seeing how he played there made me realize why he lost the starting job to Pendleton. Leonard has to be more consistent with his throwing. He was much better against Louisville, but not great. Hoping he can use the week off to dial it in even more. Go Irish!!!
FaithInIrish Forever
Health at Vyper. Do you move Sneed over there more often? Offense: The good Riley forces alot single safety defense. The bad: Riley struggles to exploit the looks he is given sometimes. Why Angel doesn't play? He'd get double safety looks. The chance for the 1 deep looks Denbrock wants rests primarily on the shoulders of Leonard.
