I can't remember a game when three down linemen went down in one game, with two (Bothello and Craig)sustaining season ending injuries. And this is after Jagusah went out for the season.

Out of curiosity, I checked out ND's Loren Landow's previous job.  He left the Denver Bronco's after 4 years where the Bronco's led the league injuries.

Here's an article regarding the Bronco's problems.  Sean Peyton and Landow "parted ways" . Let's hope Landow's injury issues didn't move to South Bend.

Broncos Injuries

The problem is that these injuries appear to be freak accidents and not something that could be preventable. Craig was clearly rolled on from the side, no one can prevent that type of injury.

I am unclear exactly how Botelho got hurt and Schrauth seems to have a minor ankle injury which is likely unpreventable as well.

Two OL got rolled up on.  Nothing is going to mitigate those from happening.  Botolho went down with no contact, freak thing not sure if really preventable or not.

On the positive our guys looked good in the heat etc of A&M a few weeks back, don't think I've seen our guys in any games with cramping issues.  That's good.

They do say it mostly has to do with Astro Turf, and I have seen so many players saying that it really is causing a lot of injuries. Mostly knee, but the others getting rolled up on happens a lot. Hate seeing it though.

On a side note, I’m hoping Botelho can come back one more season if he chooses to. I know he’s on his fifth season, but he only played three games this season. That means he should be able to redshirt, so it would be great to have him back for one final season!

He was never redshirted from what I understand, so he should be able to utilize a 6th year of eligibility.

Yup, exactly what I saw too, so here’s to hoping he comes back for one final season! 🤞🏼

Yay, now we can too use 6th year guys like most other teams. Well, I guess Hartman was one of them. Can’t wait for it to end next year.

Saw a post from Botolho on another board that said his injury was to his patella tendon. He said he was starting to run and may be squatting soon.

From personal experience that sucks. Doc told me when I torn mine, almost five years ago, that it's the worst tendon in the knee to tear. You can't wait on surgery for it either due to the quads no longer anchored to the knee/shin. I know modern medicine is great and he is a young peak athlete, but that injury will take a lot out of you. He won't be the same next season unfortunately…

Man, that’s unfortunate to hear.

Hopefully he won’t be too affected by it. 🤞🏼

I tore mine when I was in high school, and I’ve had the same experience. Had to get the surgery the night I returned following my MRI.

I always root extra hard for the players that have it happen to them.
