It's impossible not to notice the changes happening with the site right now, so my apologies if anyone's been inconvenienced by the changes happening. At the very least, it's only fair that I give everyone an update on what's coming.

The upgraded forums are still in Alpha and a work in progress, but the changes here are due to my efforts in mirroring what I can between both versions. This should make the transition as smooth as possible once ready. Please keep in mind that things you see are still subject to change but enjoy a sneak peek of where the site is headed.

Can you share the link you have bookmarked? I'd like to help you get that sorted out - that shouldn't be happening. Lol.

The current one is below.  It used to take me directly to Recruiting now is more general message board.   In looking at it now I should go to the main site first perhaps. To be honest I can't remember for sure but I think at one time I did go to the main page.

Okay, I see what you mean. That URL is for the football forum.

At one point I had the recruiting within the football forum, but recently separated then so the recruiting gets more of a spotlight on the homepage.

I would recommend bookmarking the homepage or the Fighting Irish category which includes all Notre Dame content.

I get the frustration, assuming it's for navigation. The new menu design should solve that pain point, but if you'd like to demo it, you can check it out below.

Demo the redesign

There are some minor design/styling bugs being fixed, but feedback is always welcome.

Updated the original post with what I'd consider to be a near-final design. You're all welcome to demo it at this point as well.

I don't expect it'll be ready before the start of the season, but I'll make sure to update you all once I have a more definitive date. Thanks for your patience, everyone.

I like that suggestion, but it doesn't look like it's something the software devs are planning to add. It's been requested a few times in the past though, so if it does get added at any point, I'll get it enabled.

I did still want to make a banner, but not sure where you would like To put it @Mike.

The old site used to have it at the top when you first went to the site. @Rocketsan did them. However, I do love the set up we have now, especially with the new site. With that being said, totally up to you on how you want to do it, so let me know.

A traditional domain banner might not work, but there are ways we can get creative with it. One idea I've been considering is rotating out the forum graphics with member contributions if we had a collection. If that's something you'd be interested in doing, I can create a gallery for submissions for anybody interested.

To avoid going too off topic, I'll share some details in the Community Leaders forum.

Canva.com - If you haven't played around with Canva yet, I'd recommend giving it a go. It's free to use and you can create some great designs with it.

Remove.bg - Another free tool I love to use. It's very reliable in removing the backgrounds from images.

Thanks @Rocketsan. I'll get something put together and the dimensions in the descriptions.

The simple rule of thumb will be a 16:9 aspect ratio with the most important elements towards the center so it works well on both desktop and mobile.

By retro, I mean the traditional forum structure and default theme.

• Grid mode can still be used with a toggle on the forums page.
• You can switch to the previous theme in the footer.
