Freeman ain't the guy

Recommended Posts

Freeman should have the pulse of this team by now.

He should know their strengths and weaknesses or short comings.  Such as playing down to lesser competition.

If I were the coach coming into this season, I would have told the players that I have noticed inconsistent effort against lesser teams.  Consider this season as starting fresh and new.  I will have staff members watching effort closely in game.  Don't be the one I have to tap on the should to grab a seat on the bench because you may not get your job back.

Treat every game like it's the most important of the season till I tell you that you can take your foot off the gas.  When it comes down to being considered for the CFP, it's not just winning that matters.  How dominant you were in those victories matters as well.

Agree completely. However, kids will just leave now. It’s a lot of hand holding and coddling now with these kids. Bench a kid for two games and he’s leaving.  You really need a kid in the locker room who is a true leader and that will hold guys accountable. Ed Reed type. Good luck..

All I have to say is our offense stinks. He needs to do something about the play calling. We are not good enough upfront to run these long developing run plays when we can't throw the ball but  10 yds down field.

They shyt the bed on Riley Leonard now we have to deal with it.

I think Marcus gets this year but next year he needs to show the entire ND nation what he is capable of. I am not turning my back on him just yet.

I agree 100% and I am all in on Freeman.  He is easy to root for, but he does make you scratch your head quite a bit.  I want him to succeed, and I feel that he will if he is given the time.  The transfer portal QB rental days are going to be behind us after this season and we should start seeing home grown progress.  I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for this team and this coach.

GO IRISH!

This. MF is what you want in a HC at ND. I find it difficult to root against him. My impression is that many people are pulling for him to be successful. Can’t say the same about BK’s tenure at ND.

Truth!  BK was one of those guys that you root for because of his position not because of the person.  MF gets my nod and support on both fronts

Many of you know I wasn't a Notre Dame fan before joining the board, but I am a sports fan and always wanted to bring forums and online communities back to their glory days. When Domer Domain became available, I thought it would be a great place to learn the ropes and see if I have what it takes to bring it back.

With Brian Kelly at the helm, I'd probably remain neutral as a fan, wanting them to do well for everyone here. Since Marcus Freeman became HC, I've done nothing but grow as a ND fan. Penn State (alumni here) will always be my #1, but it's safe to say Notre Dame has easily become my 1b. At this point, I catch more Notre Dame games than PSU.

P.S. I'd take Freeman over Franklin in a heartbeat.

Thats awesome!  Great back story man!

He's everything you want in a ND coach except for taking the team to a national championship level.

I see that he's really trying but that is not enough.

To put it simply, you just can't lose to NIU.  You have far superior talent.  He allowed a lackluster effort from some players and was entirely too slow to recognize what was happening and making any kind of adjustments.  What about his ridiculous pregame media comments???  I was the pounding the table for ND to hire him and I feel like I was wrong now.  He's going to get the rest of this year to prove doubters wrong.

Take a young coach with energy and support and you’ll see it grow into something great.  These issues won’t last forever.  Treat him like Paterno as a lifelong coach and I think you’ll see us create a dynasty.  This crap of 3-5 years and done has to stop.  If you give Freeman 10 solid years, a lot of people will be jealous of our success.  Our floor is the teens in rankings, currently.  That’s literally our floor!  We’re in great shape…the what have you done for me lately junk has to stop.  You have to play the long game…

This is true but this isn’t a job you figure out on your own. He is young for an HC and his support system is questionable. He is going to need to build relationships with the folks who have been there and done that. Love his coordinators right now, he is going to need to keep finding people to mentor him. Without constructive feedback, he is just getting complaints. Hopefully he can continue to grow his mentoring network outside of Tressel. No offense to Jim, just that you need a community of diverse opinions in this role.

This I agree with, so hopefully he’ll start reaching out to others for that diversity of opinion!

I don't think I've put a stance on this.

I feel like the offense is getting better

I've always been impressed with the defense

The punter's settled in,

I'm still good to ride this out,

Injuries are real though.

I like scoring like ND is in the redzone.

So I'm not in fire anybody mode yet I thought I would be but I challenged myself to take a deeper look and I found more to like.

The good thing about next year is our quarterback, running backs, and receivers will all be better, and the O line will all be back and should be much improved.
