Two issues I see, and neither has improved in the last 3 years: - Freeman lacks the guts to make changes in game on offense. Its almost like he has no interest or capability to make a change at QB. I just don't get it. - Lack of game prep. Don't know why this is, but if its not a big game, the team is just not prepared. I expect two more losses, not because they should lose, but rather they will just lose to some rando teams this year. Frustrating but this is just what I've come to expect from Marcus and I've lost a lot of interest in ND until he improves, which he hasn't. I absolutely agree on the offense stuff. Freeman has no identity there. We have a mobile QB with two really good backs, and we chuck the ball with little to no success. As a HC I'm dialing up jumbo sets and bringing in two extra OL as TE/HBacks and just maul the shit out of everything in front of me. Totally gas the defense and work on passing stuff after we go up 3 or 4 scores. It's baffling that we cannot get out of the Kelly shrub for OC and offensive philosophy in general.

I'd make a push or at least talk to Matt Campbell at Iowa State at the end of the season! Made that argument a few years back FWIW, not so sure anymore though. MF will be here through 2026.
nd1989
If you listen to Freeman's PC, its actually quite revealing. - He said they need to improve game prep. He said they had a great week of practice - He said defense wasn't ND defense from the past two years. These statements, to me, seem to be missing the issue, and maybe this is part of the problem. He struggles with game prep for a lower quality team, which seems to mean he's not game prepping. Also, and this may be a repeat of what Frankus and jessemoore are saying that he just doesn't identify at all with the offense. We need to score more than 14 points against a MAC team. ITs a joke. 1

Contain on the edges was awful, and we got steamrolled in plays up the middle. Not sure how I can complain too much about the D though since we only gave up 13 points for 99% of the game. The The offense is clearly the problem, and it starts with a noodle armed QB who lacks high-level accuracy.
jessemoore97
Bringing in Denbrock is similar to when we hired CW. Oh we have an offensive guru who won Super Bowls and helped make Tom Brady. Oooo look at Denbrock and how he won a Heisman for LSU's QB and made him too. It was all BS, especially with Denbrock and his two previous stints here running the Kellyball horseshit offense. Going 3 and out on O all the time kills your defense no matter how much depth you have. Sustained clock eating drives are great for the D. Most quick scoring, basketball offenses have terrible Ds in general.
PJacksonsDred15
Northern Illinois made Notre Dame look like Northern Indiana today. Just a really bad day for ND football. Maybe the worse home loss ever and thats saying a lot. No TD passes in two games. If some major dominoes dont fall after this it would be something. That being said, I do not expect ND to dump Freeman. Edited September 8 by PJacksonsDred15 1

Kid Gloves
Havent been on here in a while but that was so bad i had to say something. if you are ND and you cant recruit and develop a QB that is inexcusable. how can Carr be worse than Leonard?!?! We are the only program that doesnt get a talented QB and put him on the field as a freshman and develop him. Long time posters here will know I couldn’t stand Tommy Rees. But if Rees was our QB today we win this game easily. Put Carr on the field!

At the very least, a message has to be sent this week that nobody's job is safe right now. If that means getting Angeli or Carr first team reps in practice, then so be it. Something's got to give. This wasn't a loss to a lower level team like Wisconsin or Nebraska, this was Northern freaking Illinois in a home opener. Unacceptable.

NDLincPark
When do the posters on here who lauded Tyler Buchner and Riley Leonard have to own up? It's like a bad dream. Smart alumni. But absolutely comical at being realistic about nd football. Bunch of elitist clowns
