I've recently got to thank @Baldy, @NYGoldenDomer, and @The Captain 19 for their military service to the United States of America. Means a lot to me as both by grandfathers and my Uncle served in the United States Navy. Notre Dame's history is closely tied to the service academies. The Navy helped keep Notre Dame open in war time. The Irish play the Naval Academy every year. Frankly the "March in" at the Army-Navy game gives me chills and when I'm not rooting for Notre Dame, the service academies hold a special place in my heart. 

 

1. Would all veterans who have served consider replying to this thread so we could properly thank you?

2. I hope this thread serves as a place heroes can share stories. All who have served are my heroes.

I haven't served, but I have a deep appreciation for everyone that has. I have a lot of strong ties to it because of family and friends.

My uncle runs an annual "vettes for vets" car show and fundraiser every year, which me and my wife DJ'd for years, until we moved to North Carolina.

Along with that, every year my family has an annual golf fundraiser in memorial of my cousin, Jeff Deprimo. He was one of the greatest people I knew, but lost his life serving in Afghanistan back in 2008. One of the hardest days of my life and still hard to believe.

I can't express how thankful I am to everyone who has served.

You're all heros. Thank you. 🫡 🇺🇸

I was part of many AF-Army/Navy March Ins but nothing compares to the Army/Navy March In. I was lucky enough to be on the field for last years Army/Navy game March In, as I was still a Mil Assistant to the person who did the coin toss.  What an experience to be there and see the game. Wanted Navy to win so bad so AF could get the CINC trophy but my boss was happy his team won. 
 

Keep telling my family just three more years and I think that will finally be the case as 1 Nov this year when the count down clock will start. Unless the ND AFROTC Commander spot opens up and by some struck or lucky I can get selected. That would be a dream ending to a career for a someone who grew up near ND. 

Morteritaville. Balad. 09-10. Shot a fuck ton of pigeons and a few of those giant rabbits. Funny going over to the air force and drawing a pellet gun and them giving us a safety brief on the weapons......yeah. ok dude got it.

Lol nice.  09-10 I was at Al Asad.  07-08 I was in Fallujah.  Fallujah was obviously much more fun of a deployment haha.

TQ 05. Shit was live. Do that deployment tomorrow if they asked.  

Fullajah was hot shit at that time. Marines were fuckin shit up on the regular. Cobras were touch and go constantly. 

We ran convoy missions every night. 

Fuuuuuck. Those were the days. I'm old now. 

 

 

Fuckin king of battle every night launching rounds. 

We made a softball field and had a 24 hour tournament on the 4th of July. Had every service play in it. Like 20 teams. Bradley's rolling by. Bad ass. We ended up winning the tournament at like noon the next day. Beating one of the marine teams. They were so pissed. Lmfao
