I wonder who ND is going to target in 2025 to come in and start at QB.

JT Daniels might have a year left.

I thought you wanted Daniels over Buchner. Now he’s not an option for you?

You seem confused again.  That's a common theme.

C’mon PT. No one is buying your disguise.
Yes, you wanted anyone other than Buchner. Now you want anyone other than Leonard. Next year you’ll want anyone other than Angeli, Minchey, or Carr. The following year you’ll be complaining about how ND fumbled qb carousel and should have went with the qb that left after he wasn’t named starter. Sound right?  You’re an easy read. I don’t even need to know the plot of your next thoughts.

What is this guy talking about?

I have said I wanted Carr all year this season, and anyone with a brain saw that Buchner was not a d1 level college qb.

Keep making things up and talking to yourself.  Weird

Ok. I’ll apologize. I guess your writing sounds so eerily the same as another troll poster that has gone by two other names in the past. Usually complaining about what ND can’t do right…..you’re a little more positive………………..

I think it's safe to say that there has been improvement when it comes to Leonard and the offense.  Again, he isn't Joe Montana but the dude moves the ball and plays his butt off.  I find it very hard to not root for the kid.  @NDLincPark at least give me that.  Leonard has improved, yes?

Yes, he has improved his passing.  And with that improvement, he is still 92rd in the nation in cfb passer rating, the new Duke QB is outplaying him in every passing metric there is.

His Yards per attempt is 6.  Which is 113th in CFB, with the ArK St, Old Dominion, FAu and Ball St starters.

His running has saved him, and that is why his QBR is respectable.  It accounts for all of the rushing, which he is pretty good at.

Thanks for at least admitting that man and i really do appreciate the back and forth with you on this.  I hope to God that Leonard can prove you wrong on a lot of fronts but if not, I will tip my hat to you sir and say you called it from day 1.  Either way, thanks for all of this back and forth.  i look forward to it through OUT this season.

He lost to niu and is one of the worst passing quarterbacks in d1.  Easily the worst of the top 25 programs.   Hes never going to prove me wrong.  He's just below average

Also, the team lost to NIU, not just him bud

I would not be surprised to see an uptick in Leonard's passing performance over the last 7 games.

First, I think we all underestimated how missing all of winter workouts and spring practice would affect him. QBs need time to develop chemistry with their WRs - everything is all about timing. Leonard basically lost 5-6 months of workouts with his WRs and only started really working with them in the Summer. Remember, all of the WRs he's throwing to are new, and it takes time to develop that chemistry.

Second, as you'll see below, ND is about to face some dreadful pass defenses. ND will always be a run first offense with Leonard, but I think Denbrock will have some opportunities over the next 7 games to open up the passing game because most of the secondaries ND will face are vulnerable. Teams will continue to stack the box and play the run first, which will (hopefully) allow ND to take advantage in the passing game.

Passing Efficiency Defense (out of 132 teams) (1-12 ranking in parentheses)

Texas A&M: 22 (1)

NIU: 47 (3)

Purdue: 114 (11)

Miami (OH): 51 (4)

Louisville: 90 (7)

Stanford: 115 (12)

GTech: 109 (10)

Navy: 53 (5)

FSU: 105 (9)

UVA: 93 (8)

Army: 28 (2)

USC: 54 (6)

So, out of the last 7 games, there are 4 teams that are 93rd or worse in passing efficiency defense. Stanford is the worst. ND will face 4 of the 5 worst passing defenses coming up. Not only that, but the rushing defenses will be better than the first 5 games (see below).

Yard/Carry Defense (out of 132 teams) (1-12 ranking in parentheses)

A&M: 48 (7)

NIU: 17 (1)

Purdue: 125 (12)

Miami (OH): 113 (11)

Louisville: 34 (6)

Stanford: 27 (4)

GTech: 20 (2)

Navy: 79 (8)

FSU: 105 (10)

UVA: 33 (5)

Army: 26 (3)

USC: 98 (9)

Of the next seven opponents, four are ranked in the Top 33 in yards/carry defense: Stanford, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Army. Of those four teams, all but Army have a passing efficiency defense ranked 93rd or worse. Of the 12 teams on ND's schedule, it still has to face 3 of the 4 best rushing defenses. Of the next 7 opponents, 6 are better against the run than the pass (FSU's defense is just dreadful at everything, as it ranks 105 in both categories). This will dictate the offense ND runs.

So, with the upcoming teams being better against the run than the pass (and likely stacking the box to force ND to pass, knowing ND's run game is the best part of the offense), expect Denbrock to air it out more. I think we'll see a more balanced offense going forward. I think we'll see ND pass more on first down, take more shots down field, and run more true RPO to get defenders to bite on the run, leaving their already vulnerable secondaries in bad spots to defend the pass.

Not sure what the O/U is for Leonard's passing yards against Stanford, but give me the over.
