Really, though, how does his being on the team in this role detract value, besides just "making up fabricated and theoretical" personal concerns about this move making the program "look like a bunch of participation trophy losers"?

It is absolutely possible that some recruits might see it your way.  It is absolutely possible that Buchner may add insight for receivers and/or QB's on the team, or be able to bring a tiny bit of insight regarding how Saban did things.  Either way, as it stands today, it is all conjecture and theoretical.

    We do not need to determine his value. The coaching staff and team captains have already decided that there is some positive value in having Ty on the team as a walk-on WR. 

    I could be a "Keyboard Warrier" and pretend that I know more about Div I football then they do or I could be OK with the thought that they must see some positives for Ty to rejoin the team. Especially since there is little downside other than the "fabricated scenario" that the outside world will perceive the Irish program as a "bunch of participation trophy losers".

    BTW, if you believe NDLincPark, Ty's move must not have hit the mainstream media yet since the Irish are still ranked in the Top 10 of most pre-season polls. Per his point of view, the media should immediately drop Notre Dame out of their Top 25 for the sole reason that the Irish added Buchner as a walk-on WR. Like-wise, recruits will now change their mind and de-commit for the same reason.

    Not sure why anyone would question the comment. Pretty sure that @FaithInIrish Forever was referring to ND fans' hype train for Irish QBs being 'crazy'.

    Hype around the current talent on the roster at a given position has absolutely nothing to do with the abilities of previous coaches to develop talent. 

    A better question for you would be why not be hyped? Seriously, when was the last time ND had this level of talent on the roster at the QB position...or when was the last time ND recruited this well at QB (or just overall)?

    Every QB is measured by that standard. To blame TB12 is just false causation. All your saying is Tyler Buchner is not JOE. Thats true. but joe is top 2 to ever do it. Its like calling baseball players failures who don't make the big leagues. When minor leaguers have still more knowledge, more skill,   more time and more effort put in then I ever will.

    You're comparing the second greatest qb ever to a guy who quit football after Less than 10 appearances cause he was atrocious. 😝

    No I'm saying every modern ND QB besides Tony Rice fails that comparison!
