SpecialFNK
this doesnt make sence to me. ND has 1 loss, if they lose again they are out of a BCS game right? USC now allready has 1 loss so if they lose again shouldnt they be out of a BCS game? ND and USC are still to play, yet both ND and USC and predicted to play in a BCS game? which BCS game has the first pick for an at large team? i thought i read somewhere that the Sugar Bowl has the first pick, and if ND is available wouldnt they pick ND? another thing ive wondered if anyone knows why, but how come the non title BCS games are Jan 1-3 yet the title game isnt until the 8th? Guest AtlantaIrish
USC will lose to both Cal and Notre Dame IMO so they should be out of it. I would love to see us play Florida aka "Jean Shorts University" in the Sugar Bowl. I really so no way that we can possibly reach the NC game. With that being said I would prefer to play in the Sugar and not the Orange.

Guest Murph421
indeed. As much as I hate to admit it, my SEC friends are right, we just don't have the speed or intensity to play with an SEC team like Florida. I'll b happy if we can get BC in the orange bowl. OD
I think you guys are wrong on an SEC team will kill us. They are not all that good. I think we could play with any of them.....

I think we could play with any of them..... no way could ND hang with the SECs best. have you forgot that ND has struggled against lesser compotion, we struggled against MSU, struggled in the first half against stanford and really didn't dominate them and then we almost lose to UCLA. ND can not compete the the best teams in the SEC, they have to much speed and talent.

SpecialFNK
i dont really know anything about the current BC team, but in the past when ND played BC alot it always seemed that ND had trouble with BC. i dont know how the two teams would match up right now. if the SEC teams are too strong(Florida/Auburn/Tennessee) then what other teams/bowl games could ND get to? Fiesta vs Texas? i wouldnt really want to play Texas. i think the Orange Bowl is the more likely destination, but it could be another team other than BC? BC plays Wake Forest on saturday, could WF represent the ACC? Wake Forest plays Virginia Tech still, could VT represent the ACC? what about a rematch against Georgia Tech? their remaining schedule going into the ACC championship looks easy. Jason
Here's the deal with the selection order. As of now it goes Sugar, Orange, Fiesta...but that is almost guaranteed to change. If the #1 team is tied to a bowl game then that bowl game gets #1 pick. If the #2 team is tied to a bowl then that bowl gets #2 pick and then it goes back to Sugar, Orange, Fiesta. So, assuming Ohio St. or Michigan finishes #1, the Rose Bowl will get the first pick with that selection to play the Pac 10 champion (assuming Cal or SC isnt in Title game). I think if ND finishes 11-1, you can count on them being the first selection and they will be in the Rose Bowl playing Cal (in my opinion). Although the Rose Bowl could select Michigan, the Big East champion or another eligible at-large instead. But I have to believe you would see them pick an 11-1 Notre Dame team. Jason
Actually, if you look at recent history, you would almost expect them not to take a Big 10 or Pac 10 team if given a chance. 2006: Texas vs SC (doesnt count b/c it was the National Title Game) 2005: Texas vs Michigan (Selected Texas over the 2nd place Pac 10 team) 2004: USC vs Michigan (They didnt have an at large selection as the National Title game featured LSU vs Oklahoma) 2003: Oklahoma vs Washingon State (Had the opportunity to pick the 2nd place Big Ten team but took Oklahoma instead) 2002: Miami vs Nebraska (National Title so no at large opportunity) So, the last two at large selections they have been given has resulted with them selecting non Big Ten/Pac 10 teams in Texas and Oklahoma. Selecting a Notre Dame team that could 11-1 and hasn't played in the Rose Bowl since 1925 seems like it would be a pretty big draw for the Rose Bowl. At the end of the day, it all comes down to cash and TV ratings and ND brings that to the table moreso than any other school. Granted Michigan/Ohio State loser will be ranked in top 3 still, most likely, and they may elect to go that route, in my opinion moreso if OSU is the team they could grab. If Michigan loses that game, I wouldnt be surprised if a 1 loss ND is selected by the Rose Bowl with the first pick. Then again it could be OSU vs Michigan in the National Title game. Either way, I think if ND wins out, the Rose Bowl is the most likely scenario. i highly doubt they will go to the Orange or Fiesta because the odds are slim and none that a Big 12 team or ACC team gets to the title game and there is no way ND slips to the 3rd or 4th at large pick. Guest Pete
Wasn't Texas in the top 4 in 2005. That was the year that Mack Brown wined and cried his way into a BCS spot. The Rose Bowl wasn't allowed to pick Cal.
Guest Kgreene2343
If USC beats Cal, and we beat USC, wouldn't USC still be the winner of the Pac 10. If so, I don't think the Rose Bowl will pick us because there wouldn't be as much excitement, as we already played.
Guest irishrick
the odds are were going to the orange bowl and play that powerful Boston College team and they would really be a Michigan type team and give us a pretty good whipping, we really don't deserve a NC game as we HAVE NOT PLAYED ONE CONSISTANT GAME ALL SEASON SO FAR and we got a few losing teams to finish up i doubt that we get anything but the orange bowl. go irish
