Someone get this over to Deuce immediately. Haha. Again, I don’t give a rats ass if he commits or not anymore. Recruiting along with sports in general has taken a back seat since my health and kid was born. 
I’ve never missed a game since 86’. I’ve missed the last two.  I’ll watch this weekend but if I see the same stuff with zero results it will be dinner with the family someplace.

Putting some nuggets together, it seems like he privately told the Auburn staff (and some recruiting insiders) that he was flipping his commitment to Auburn in late August, which is why there have been rumors that he will flip each of the last four weekends (three of which he was on Auburn's campus). Not sure if Auburn's poor play is giving him pause or what is going on behind the scenes. Apparently, he has been communicating with the ND staff (and he is reaching out to them, not just the other way) and indicating to the other commits that he is sticking. 

So, if he leaves Auburn this weekend as an ND commit, I think that seals the deal and he'll stick with ND... at least for the time being. I still have a hard time seeing him signing with ND in December, but Ole Miss apparently isn't pushing and most other SEC schools have their QB. So, ND might land him after all.

An interesting article on the amount of NIL by position group.  High end QB's in P4 schools: $2million.  So, my guess is Deuce is looking at where he'll get that type of deal.

Interesting stuff. That article talks a lot about out the transfer portal, I don’t know if incoming freshman warrant that mind of cash. Who was the QB that left us at the alter last year? I thought I heard rumors or a 9M NIL deal for him to Oregon wherever he ended up.

I feel like we need a 40 year plan for these kids…don’t just talk about it, but literally get with alumni and say, hey, what can you offer these guys if 1) it works out, they play in the NFL, and then move on, or 2) they commit to the school, they don’t make the nfl, but they have an ND degree, and busted their asses…

Basically, guarantee that they land on their feet if they aren’t a$$h0les.

I don’t watch it but I found out that AGT is a 40 year plan. Apparently if you win the million dollars you can take a tiny lump sum or get annual payments of 25k for 40 years. If ND can amass a huge endowment surely a collective could manage some kind of long term fund. But then, it goes both directions are they going to make some 50 something who never made it to the NFL appear in sandwich commercials?

Can they do that for non-scholie undergrads too?  You know, the kinds that they show in the commercials during the games, the ones doing the research and the community good-works?  

I hate NIL.  I'll repeat, I hate NIL.  Unfair to everyone, including the families whose parents are both working and making just enough money that ND doesn't give any scholarship money and who then have the privilege of paying the entire estimated $80,200 a year for their child to go to ND?  It's such a thrill to have a school tell a parent, 'hey, just take out a second mortgage on your house'.

Starting next season there will no longer be non scholarship players in football.  Scholarship counts go from 85 to 115 I think, maybe 120?  I forget the actual number.  No more walk on players.

Wow!  I had not heard that. 
So, ND needs to come up with 30 x 80,000 = 2,400,000 more dollars to pay for those 30 additional scholarships, not to mention additional NIL money. 
 

And the other undergrads get, what, discounted home game tickets to see Miami of Ohio, Northern Illinois?  
 

I sound bitter but I’m actually not. I just think every student should benefit, not just the 115.

I would love to keep Deuce in this class and have him actually go to class at ND. Looks like a real talent. But it just looks too much like he’ll be a Tiger.

CJ Carr should be the 2-3 year starter for ND anyway, so who really cares?

All Douche would do is make better pure passers at ND transfer out.

I think everyone, maybe other than Marcus Freeman and Mike Denbrock, want to see Carr unleashed in a game.  Not just handing off late in the fourth quarter.

The portal just screws all of this up.  

Anoint Carr too quickly and watch Minchey hit the portal.  No loss, one might say?  Only if Carr stays healthy, Angeli doesn't follow Minchey out the door, and you bring in some other warm body for backup duties through the portal.  But I'm not sure too many decent QB's transfer through the portal only to backup someone else.  That would be one very thin QB room.

Can Buchner stay for an 18th year?

I'd really like Deuce to enroll at ND.  Looks like a talented kid.  Put him AND Carr in the QB room and you're set, as long as Deuce stays put.

I will continue my stance that I want Deuce to stick with ND and enroll knowing he will be 100% transferring out through the portal at some point.  Just want to drop the bullshit that ND cannot land these guys from the get go.  Its my hope that it is Carr the next few years.  Minchey is likely gone to find playing time elsewhere.  Maybe Angeli sticks around, maybe he leaves.  I think he knows regardless that he ain't playing in the NFL so hopefully he stays as QB2/3 depending on when Deuce decides to leave.
