  • Bogus targeting call. The real targeting was TS on the kickoff and not even reviewed. Finally got the QB we have desperately needed for a long time.

On the top right do you see how gameday is checked. If all football you check   all 3. Just gameday you check that one, just recruiting you check that one

Glad this one is a 3:30 kick… Working another Saturday so I can have back to back ones off with NC State being a noon banger and then still planning to make the trip up for the big one on the 23rd.

This game is such a joke.  I’m not watching.  I used to take pride in the fact that we only played real D-1 teams…. This is a joke for many reasons beyond that.  No thanks.

1.) I’ve been a huge proponent for years that playing JV games like that should count as a loss.

2.) This game is pure politics showing that Notre Dame “cares” about something that is full of fallacies in reality…

I’m not going to participate in it in either case…. Love my team, but this game is bull****

I look at this game as a chance for the 2nd/3rd strings to hopefully get a decent amount of snaps.  That's pretty much it.  Get on them early and often and then get the backups on the field.

But I agree with @irishwavend that I hate ND has stooped to these lows as well.  I said it in another thread, I'll say it again.  I get the idea of scheduling a cupcake once a year.  At least make it a FBS cupcake.  Schedule a bottom of the barrel ACC team since we have that contract.  Schedule someone like Rutgers.  Schedule a G5 school.  Stay out of the FCS.  I mean, shit, we had Marshall last year and look what happened.  Could you image if that happened with a FCS team?

Maybe we should get a Michigan fan on here to ask them how it was with an FCS team. Hahahaha. And they were a top 5 team at the time App State got them.

Yup.  While it is unlikely, games like this can be overlooked.  Hence Marshall last year, the Michigan game you referenced.  It can happen.  I would prefer to lay an egg against a low level FBS team than god forbid someone in the FCS.

As conference realignment moves forward, if ND wants to remain independent, it may find itself scheduling all kinds of less-than-ideal games.

I used to hate the idea of ND playing a game like this.  Now?  With so much happening with NIL and conference realignment, I don't really care.

Just get a HUGE W.  Lead by 35 at half, get backups in for all of the 4th quarter.  Sadly, I said about the same thing before the Marshall game last year.  At least now Freeman can show video lowlights of the Marshall game to all of his teams from now to eternity to reinforce that no game should be taken for granted.

Oh man... Conference realignment... What a can of worms that is... But I'll be honest.. I've found myself warming up to this.  Lets be honest there was only a third of FBS who's legit competing for National Titles... So why not make two or three super conferences and then sprinkle in a couple of the lesser champs into the 16 team (there is no way 12 team makes any sort of sense, just go 16 team already) playoff.  I saw an interesting proposal that implemented English Premier League type relegation.  I don't know.. A lot to still work itself out.. And I'm actually not in the doom and gloom crowd anymore. I think it has potential.  If at some point ND does need to make a decision on aligning with a conference (I think this may come to a point of inevitability)... Give me the Big Ten.  I've seen where with a 24 team conference they'd go to 11 conference games with 1 non conference.  Love that idea. Think about this schedule

Game 1: One of the military academies in Dublin again.
Game 2:  Purdue

Game 3: at Michigan State

Game 4: at Indiana

Game 5: Penn State

Game 6: Nebraska

Game 7: at Northwestern

Game 8: Oregon

Game 9: at Michigan

Game 10: at Illinois

Game 11: Wisconsin

Game 12: USC

That is a fun one.. That home lineup of Purdue, Penn State, Nebraska, Oregon, Wisconsin and USC is a fun one to think about.

Lol. It’s about like watching Louisville, Virginia, Boston College and Duke.
