This is Clemson's schedule. As you would expect Bigger margins of victory against bad teams. Closer games vs good teams. So on its face I expect this to be a close game unless ND plays bad.  Clemson will stack the Box. Rees will stack it right back. I expect ND to play alot of backs and tight ends.  Hopefully Pyne can hit someone on a post like Everrett Golson hit Chris Brown in Oklahoma in 2012. We've played DJ before. Rocket Arm, Good feet, will make someone intercept-able decisions.

I'm gonna go 30-29 Irish because it worked well last week.

The question is will the good Irish show up or the one who lost to Stanford and Marshall. We lack consistency, but this game should be close.

Thats very valid. We are not a big play team so The Irish struggle to overcome mistakes/turnovers and penalties.

Clemson will load the box and force us to pass. We need to continue to pound it, but have to have a Rees type of game manager type game. Can Pyne throw for 200 yards and avoid turnovers? If so, we have a shot.

Agreed Rees will make it 8 on 8 in the box meaning he will play 3 tight ends if he needs to (5 lineman+3 tight ends=8 blockers) super heavy offense vs "Stacked Box" defense). BUT if we don't want it to be a Navy type game Pyne has got to hit a one on one outside

the 200 yard level passing is a perfect number.

This is a match made in Hell for ND. DJU threw for about a million yards last time we played and our secondary is known to give up big plays. If we get him out of rhythm early it will be good, if not it could get ugly fast.

Yeah… seeing how lucky we were w/ Syracuse on pass drops, i’m concerned about this match up….

They have big DTs that eat up blocks and their LBs make all the tackles… this will be a good challenge for our OL / rush game…

The ACC is really bad right now and at this time, Clemson is closer to ND than they are to the SEC powers.

Freeman seems to get the team up for big games and I don't think Clemson is a top ten team. I have the Irish pulling this one out.

Clemson is a top-five rushing defense. Not a whole lot of confidence in our offense  to be able to move the ball if we have to throw. No win this week boys

Have they seen ND's caliber of rush offense? I'll have to look that up later but I kinda doubt it. Keep the faith!

True. I’m an admitted homer and will pick them for a win, but tough sledding this week. Really not impressed with the Clemson offense at all

We're 39.  I see FSU is a bit better but check through this list if you want. http://cfbstats.com/2022/leader/national/team/offense/split01/category01/sort01.html

I don't think our rushing offense really was emphasized or picked up until after our first two losses of the season.  That being said, if Pyne does not improve in the passing game, our run offense will have a tough time against Clemson's front seven.

ND can win this game.

Defense has to get pressure with 4 people rushing.   Mix in occasional blitzes but make sure (a) the middle of the field gets covered, and (b) Morrison doesn't automatically give up inside position.

Rees has to call a perfect game.  Pyne doesn't have to hit every downfield throw, but ND does need to throw some long balls from time to time.  Pyne DOES have to make effective reads and some quick throws.  As long as ND isn't sending all the receivers 20 yards down filed on 3rd and 5, he should be okay I think.  I'd also prefer to see him tuck it and run instead of force bad throws.

These things can be said about pretty much any game.  But the details matter more in games against good teams, and Clemson is surely one of those.

This team seems to be on the verge of good things.  Get over the hump with a W this week.

Well said

to finish what going to work interrupted this morning.

Georgia Tech 96th Rush Offense ND 39th

Furman lower division not ranked

Louisiana Tech  111th rush offense ND 39th

Wake Forest 83rd rush offense ND 39th

NC State Rush Offense 100th ND 39th

Boston College Rush Offense 131st ND 39th

Florida State Rush Offense 18th ND 39th

Syracuse rush Offense 59th    ND 39th

Average

96+111+83+100+131+18+59/7= 85.43

Clemson has averaged facing the 85th rush Offense in the Country. ND is the 39th.

@mcgov12 thank you for your question now I know to Study Clemson's Florida State game closer. Score of that game was 34-28.

So What I found out was Florida State was still able to get 203 yards rushing from Clemson

However DJ Uiagaleiei passed 15/23 65 percent 3 TDs

                                                24/42 57 percent and 2 TDs

Clemson also won the turnover battle recovering a fumble

As @cali_domer said close game, QB play, Turnovers likely to decide the outcome

Against Clemson the qb and lb’s will be really important.  Those are two areas where we struggle.  I don’t have much hope for a win.  I think we manage to keep it close….but I can’t see us winning with the struggles of those positions.

You gotta go, its family.  However if this was an undefeated ND v Clemson top 5/10 matchup then you'd have a dilemma on your hands.

Of course get each ND related clothing and simply make everyone aware of the best way to break in said clothing is by watching the ND game that just so happens to be on TV.  Just saying.

My stupid friend that’s getting married was supposed to have his bachelor party with golfing, bar hopping and gambling but it’s been canceled because he needs to take care of his cousins 17 year old dog that can’t walk, needs its butt wiped, and has medication needed multiple times per day. You know, something that’s obviously more important than a bachelor party that’s been scheduled for months. Golf and football all day for me
