I’ve watched Notre Dame football since 1965. My Dad started as an offensive guard on the 1949 National Championship team.

There’s one thing I know.

Great Notre Dame teams line up and run the football. They don’t kittenfoot with alignment. They commit to the run and wear teams down. As they do that, they get 3rd and short and/or get single coverage and exploit that.

Rees had a chance to do that tonight. He had a long 1st half drive running effectively with Estime as the running back. He could have committed to that.

What do we get?

A lot of kittenfooting Brian Kelly ball that resulted in a lot of 3rd and 10’s.

I just hope Freeman has enough strength and love for what used to be Notre Dame football to go to Swarbrick at the end of this season and tell him that Rees has to go.

Rees is a legacy Kelly guy. We deserve better. We can get  a proven, experienced Offensive Coordinator to replace novice Rees. Hopefully, Marcus will make the move and remove the last stench of the Kelly era.

  • OK, just re-watched the game.  Really, this game was a lot better than I thought.  That's not wearing my Irish colored glasses.   Things, I saw... ND was leading an in control as of 500 mins

  • I didn’t call anyone a loser. I think Rees in an unqualified Offensive Coordinator for Notre Dame. He’s a fledgling Kelly acolyte who put up 10 points tonight. I get it that beaten down ND fans are sa

  • We scored 10 points. If you’re satisfied with that I don’t know what to say. The D played great. If the O played up to a comparative performance level we would have won. Al Golden is miles ahead in ex

Don’t forget about Heistand. He has a history of getting embarrassed in big games. Remember Miami 2017 with the all world offensive line?

No one has gotten less out of more.

Little early in the season to fire people but I get the frustration. If we struggle against a typical opener like Marshall, I'm on the get rid of Rees train. But this was our second Bowl Game quality opponent with two different Qbs.   I can't go there yet.

I really can’t evaluate Heistand because we’re still playing Kelly ball. Lots of 3rd and 10’s where it’s all about schematic trickery that substitutes for lining up and dominating.

I do agree with that. I'm for more Estime.

Marshall? Swarbrick has dumbed down the schedule that a monkey can win 9 games. Thankfully, after watching the press conference, I don’t think Freeman is going to be satisfied with Rees looking good against Marshall.

Overreactions after a competitive loss to the #2 team on the road...

*facepalm*

I guess every fanbase has those types of fans.

Yeah, really. No one gave us a chance in this game. Wasn’t supposed to be competitive. Having said that, terrible 2nd half plan and need to be better

You’re satisfied with being “competitive“ in losses? A perfect example of the weak defeatism of a (young) beaten down fan base. Hopefully, Marcus Freeman isn’t a weak rationalizing loser.

Gotta beat Marshall then cal one game at a time

No, I am disappointed, just not going to overreact to it. Nice try though.

I understand you are disappointed but calling people losers won't change the outcome.

For frigs sake. You’re worried about Marshall? My God, it can’t get any less confident than that. If we don’t destroy Marshall we hired the wrong guy.

I dont mind his petty insults. Just another overreacting fan after a loss like every year. "The sky is falling!!"

ND was never going to line up and dominate against that front on either side of the ball  . . ever. Ohio State is bigger, faster, stronger; it showed when it mattered.

Not worried about Marshall. But they are next on the schedule I believe so thats who they need to prepare for.
