I’m kind of dreading the Ohio State game, but I’m very much looking forward to Clemson! What about you?

I think the big 3 games will be tough

1. OSU

2. Clemson

3. USC

I also think BYU is no picnic. But I like tough schedules because ND fans will truly know where the team stands.

UNC at Chapel hill is another sleeper tough game as well as BC with a Jurkovec who wants a better memory than his first time against Book when he lost

For me, it is the USC game. 2 hotshot new coaches, a traditional rivalry, I think this game will be a barn-burner this season and probably for the foreseeable future. I'm giving USC an A+ for their hire of Lincoln Riley and ND lit it up with MF.

should truly renew the rivalry offense vs defense and than Tommy Rees saying I can call some plays too.

I am really looking forward to this game , BYU always has a decent team it seems. Right now planning on going with friends and never been to Allegiant Stadium .

Agreed…last game of the year, I feel like Riley is going to adjust throughout the year and this is going to be a game

Booze free in Vegas? Too bad tickets for that one won't be available to the public.

ND/USC will be a test for both coaches for sure!

I think ND has another blowout.  USC is a 4 win team that will still be awful in the trenches.  I think Riley is overrated personally.  His defenses were weak.  We will see but I'm not buying him totally turning around USC.

I really hope you're right, that would be sweet. I just don't see them being only a 4 win team though. I think Riley is a good coach, and yes the big question will be their D. Aren't they supposed to have a good DC, Alex Grinch I think it is? Not familiar with him very much. We'll see how the season plays out and I'm anticipating both teams to be ranked coming into the game.

Ohio State for me. I’ve seen ND play USC many times. The Ohio State game is such a rare occurrence. I just hope they come to play unlike the past two years I’ve seen them play in the desert. I also think this is a good barometer of where ND thinks they are. Beat them and it sets the table for everything. EVERYTHING…

Indeed!

I think it would be a much better barometer if it were to be the ninth game in the schedule, though.  Game 1 with a new head coach and many new position coaches at ND, vs stability of coaches and systems at Ohio State makes it a little harder for me to know where ND is.  Unless they win...

I’m looking at it as reading between the lines. The small snippets I’ve read seems to suggest that Freeman and company want to instill hard-nosed toughness on the lines. That they want to run the ball with authority. If that’s the case, and they take it to them ala Oregon last year. Count me as saying that’s a great barometer.

I’ve talked to quite a few people who think ND will beat tOSU and then run the table, but I’m not drinking the kool-aid just yet
