I'm feeling the same way. Hopefully its early in the season. Did they release a date in the video?

No date so far as I can tell.

“We’re excited to bring a pair of great academic institutions that are steeped in tradition together in 2023,” said University Vice President and James E. Rohr Director of Athletics Jack Swarbrick. “None of this would be possible without Dr. (Mikki) Allen and Coach (Eddie) George’s vision for what this game can represent to our Universities. I’m thrilled we’re able to bring the Tigers and the Irish together for a weekend that will feature programs with over 20 combined national titles, the Aristocrat of Bands and the Band of the Fighting Irish.”

I also think that is Heisman Trophy Ohio State Running Back Eddie George.  I need to do my research but I think Freeman vs George was a matchup Marcus wanted.

Exactly. Dumb f’in crap. I knew it was a matter of time. But you do this when you are IN a conference. Whatever…

I think its cool. Kelly picked the games vs Cincinatti(he regretted that) and Western Michigan early in his tenure. Why shouldn't Freeman have similar input?

The difference is another tradition is gone. I really never hung my hat on the never playing the FCS distinction, but I kind of would like to hold on to it.

He brought back players going to mass Saturday morning before home games. Another tradition is back!

I love that he did that! I just am plugging my nose with this and  hope it does not become normal. Because once you do it once, it is easy to repeat.

not if it means breaking 130+years of tradition and playing  FCS team. This has no benefit for ND

This is an awful decision.

What was the benefit of playing Toledo?

Not playing an fcs team. Playing an average Mac team where you should be guaranteed a win and get the younger guys game reps. We didnt handle our business but Toledo is at least decent so they give you some resistance while getting to play a lot of your roster. It's good for development. Playing a fcs team is no resistance

If we were going to do this, why in the hell did we schedule TSU..???  This is horrendous on so many levels.

No FCS teams ever. ND has no leg to stand on. They have no moral superiority going forward. If we are going to schedule FCS teams we might as well join a conference. That is another game I will not be watching. That will be 2 games I will have not watched in 20 years. The other was the bs peacock shit.

Gotta admit, I am oddly okay with it based on the match off as a one off. Not a regular thing, a one off.
