Really great write up on Kyle over at The Ringer.

https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2022/3/28/22996666/kyle-hamilton-nfl-draft-top-pick-safety-value

Watching the highlights, I'm reminded all over again of what we we're missing after he went down. His loss said a lot about a lot of things. First, that ND's general depth is so much better than the Weis-ie-ngham years that his loss wasn't viewed as a season ender. And, it says a lot about him that in this poster's (underinformed) opinion, he was leagues better than Harrison Smith in his final season. Finally, the lense into his play at all three levels is a depressing reminder of how much talent we lost when he went down. Don't see how the bowl game is even close if he's on the field.

I'll have to watch the highlights. I forget how Harrison played at ND. I watched all the games just need a refresher.

I watched.

They are not as different as I first thought

Differences:

Kyles Ceiling is higher (people utter Ed Reid)

Smith did less sometimes better. Diaco lived in cover 2. Smith knew Cover 2 at a HIGH LEVEL coming out of college(at least 4, maybe 5 years). He went to the Vikings who at the time played Cover 2. Perfect fit.

If Kyle goes to a Cover 1 team it might be tough for him. As the film points out he trusts his eyes and that can hurt you if you are the deep post(truly the last man, between a guy and a TD.) Watch minute 10 and 11 of that tape.

However if he goes to a team that will let him be a buzzing safety in a cover 2(buzzing means reading the QB's eyes to me), WATCH OUT.  Guy might lead the league in tackles for loss.

FIT is EVERYTHING

Smith was a perfect FIT for the Vikings Scheme.

If the RIGHT TEAM FITS THE RIGHT SCHEME TO HAMILTON, WE'LL BE TALKING HIGHLY OF HIM LIKE WE TALK EITHER OF OTHER HALL OF FAMERS RETURNING TO ND.

I suspect the only teams that are going to value him appropriately (as the unicorn he is) are the ones playing a 2 high safety look. I think he steps into that fit as one of the top safeties in the league. He's a force multiplier.

Does anyone know which of the first ten teams drafting play a 2 high safety scheme?

This doesn't answer your question yet. But I am going to attempt too. Its a bit hard too because the top 10 is usually where the failed coach just got fired.

Kyle might fit here

Lions have ALOT of ND guys.

All 32 video talking about COMMUNICATION ERRORS in Coverage. "Our Safeties  Suck!"

That would be amazing.

As of March 6, according to USA Today:

The 2022 Texans do not have a defensive coordinator listed, which means [Head Coach Lovie] Smith plans to still stay involved coaching the unit, not simply turning it over to an assistant.

Hired as the Texans new head coach this offseason, Smith served as defensive coordinator and associate head coach last season for Houston and has a familiarity with the roster.

On CBS Sports, there are 5 columnists who did mock drafts, and two of them sent Kyle to the Texans at 3.  The others said Lions at 2, Jersey, and NY Giants.

Not sure I trust any of them, but these are recent mocks.

Mike Tannenbaum  (former NFL general manager and executive) with ESPN also sent Kyle to the Texans at 3:

With the lovie smith defense that I've seen, I'm not sure they'd prioritize a unicorn safety (though, they should).

They have a lot of picks, but who really knows
