Per Loy will be the TE in coach

Featured Replies

Well that was a fast switch from Brewster.

I’m also assuming him and Freeman coached at Purdue for a year together?  This may be his first hire of one of his friends. Don’t know much a bout the guy and how he recruits or coaches.

He's coached with Mickens, Washington and Parker before ND

Again, I’m glad it’s someone with a little more experience on the resume. I was worried ND was trying to be the “cool” school and hire only young coaches. Parker is only 41, but he’s got 15+ years experience.

TE at ND basically recruits itself. I can’t remember the last time ND didn’t have a quality TE.

Apparently, he's a former player with experience as a recruiting coordinator, WR coach, TE coach, RB coach, offensive coordinator, and interim head coach. I'm in no position to judge his ability, but he looks like he'll bring a wealth of knowledge.

He seems like an ok choice and ultimately I think Freeman needs to be trusted for now.  However, I would like to see Freeman get away from choosing asst coaches based on a past connection.  I don't think Saban gives a damn if he has a connection to a coach when he's looking to make a hire.  Only concern is and should be, is the candidate the best possible choice.  I thought Brewster had better qualifications than Parker and was also interested.

According to Freeman, Rees is responsible for determining who to bring in as candidates for ACs on O. Then Freeman part of interview process. Obviously, Freeman can give Rees names to put on his short list.

Fit, recruiting, and coaching ability all part of the equation.

Given that the replacements all seem to be pretty decent, not too worried about passing on Brewster.
