  • Ill answer this.Β  I think Elder provides some good contrary opinions, which foster good discussion. Sometimes Im not a fan of the tone or whatever but thats my deal.Β  What I was getting anno

@ELDER06Β I don't know if this will make you feel better about Rees not being at Moore's school today, but I thought I'd share.

  • Having a difference of opinion is one thing, being disrespectful and rude because others disagree with your opinion is entirely different.Β

My dad was a ND fan and there’s an established pipeline bw my high school and ND. Basically, the same story as a lot of Catholics growing up in the Midwest.

Who was your Favorite ND player who went to Elder high school?

You could of just said the above. Could you treat all board members like you treat me? You are very nice to me.

Rudolph. And I can tell you with 100% certainty, he’s a legitimately good guy. However, there were guys before him and after him. I can tell you there’s a LB in the class of β€˜25 they’ll be looking at in the near future. He might be tough to get bc he’s Shaun Alexander’s nephew, but he can play.Β

Only bc you’re a nice guy and don’t have an agenda.Β

I'm not trying to change you, Elder. I just think the ad hominem attacks ("fairytale bs," "dumb fantasies," etc.) distract from your legitimate points (Buchner has a higher ceiling due to his arm, mobility, and overall rating/evaluation).Β

You're obviously free to carry on however you'd like. It doesn't bother me. I'm just here to talk ND, learn a little, and have a good time.

But the idea of ND signing Allen is a fantasy, look at his offers. The fact he grew up an ND fan doesn’t mean anything.Β
Β

I think fans in general try way too hard to romanticize sports. It seems like there’s large groups of fans and media always trying to find the angle of a story that makes the best movie and they try to make that the narrative. The bottom line is the process of winning is boring. It’s about having talent, excellent coaching and being able to combine those two things together to win at a high level.Β

Kyle Rudolph or Michael Mayer? I think Kyle was the higher recruit. Michael's had the better luck with health at ND so far. I think Michael Would be very happy with duplicatingΒ  Kyle's NFL Career,

Β

So I guess I type all that to sayΒ  I wantΒ Both players please and thank you we got them both.Β

Of course the media is always going to romanticize the sport, that is their job. The only reason the 4 horseman are anything is because of a romanticized article. The game that made them famous was actually dreadfully boring. The article was actually more entertaining than watching the game, but in the end it has added to the lore of ND football. Look at Rudy, the overwhelming majority of his story was actually him sitting on his arse studying, but you cant make that into a book or movie. There is nothing wrong with romanticizing. Just like Knute's famous win one for the Gipper speech which is really kind of bland, but it's the media's job to sell the sport so they will try to take any angle to make things more exciting. Nothing wrong with that. To truly succeed at anything in life tends to be boring and a little lonely. You need a little fantasy to get through those times or we would all want to kill ourselves or make everybody's life miserable.

Β

Maybe you need a little more fantasy in your life Elder to lift those spirits a little higher.

I think Stuckey is the key to Mayer's (assumed) final season being very good (like this year) or amazing. If teams want to bracket MM, they need to be punished by the WRs. And if teams can't bracket him (because the receivers are killing them), then he's probably open.

Agreed. Lenzy and Mayer on the same side of the formation running a levels concept provided Lenzy improves in getting off a jam at the line make me so happy to think about. Pick your route defense we'll take the 1 on 1 and win.Β

I actually don’t like the movie Rudy. My only fantasy is seeing ND win a title again. The pursuit of getting back to that level is drama enough.Β

I like to get the ball to Lenzy in space, either off Drives & Shallow crosses.Β

Yup. If Lenzy gets across a a linebackers face he will be running until the opposite corner or safety chases it down

Β

To me you Put Meyer on a 5 yard cross and put Lenzy on a 10 to 15 cross/drive. if 2 go to Mayer at 5 you hit that 15 and watch Lenzy run forever!Β

Who said I had a personal attachment?Β  I said I know him, and that is because I live in the same vicinity and watch a lot of HS football.Β  There has never been a QB talent, like this,Β  come through this area since Jay Cutler. I started paying closer attention and gathering information on him once I recognized the talent he had and started following him more closely.Β  You make a lot of assumptions that you have no first hand knowledge about.Β  I've seen just about every throw this kid has make since he wasΒ  a freshman.Β  I know what he is capable of.Β  You don't.Β  Stop with the "holier than though, I am all knowing because I'm a better fan than you attitude".Β  I have zero agenda and merely stated an opinion, which I stand behind.Β  And why do I care?Β  Because I feel that Brady is the most underrated QB prospect this cycle.Β  If you think I'm wrong, give Jeff Christensen a call at Throw It Deep and ask him what he thinks.Β  Unless you think you know more than him, as well.
