  • Ill answer this.  I think Elder provides some good contrary opinions, which foster good discussion. Sometimes Im not a fan of the tone or whatever but thats my deal.  What I was getting anno

@ELDER06 I don't know if this will make you feel better about Rees not being at Moore's school today, but I thought I'd share.

  • Having a difference of opinion is one thing, being disrespectful and rude because others disagree with your opinion is entirely different.

I never said at this point in time he was better, only that he had a higher ceiling and that’s true. Buchner was not elite 11 QB and while he may not have the pure arm strength, he still has a good arm, mixed with far better mobility.

This is real life, not the movie Rudy. Take your fairytale bs elsewhere. Allen’s other offers were from Rutgers, Wisc, IU, Cincy, Kansas, Va Tech, WV. That’s not at ND’s level, sorry if that offends you, but ND is out to win games not fulfill your dumb fantasies.

Why are you so hostile?  Feel better taking personal shots at someone for stating their opinion?  You are quite the man.  Congrats on being a keyboard warrior.  And to clear something up for you, the reasons why his offers did not include from your "elite" teams was that his family let it be known that they were 100% in their commitment to Purdue and would not go back on it.  I know for a FACT that LSU and Penn State were in his ear and did not offer because of this.  Believe what you want, that's fine.  You seem to be an informed poster but you should really try working on being less of a douche and people might take your points of view more favorably.  You obviously don't know anything about his ability so you are stating your opinions, as well.  How many times have you seen him play?  What do you know other than what you have read on the internet?

While we're on the topic of Rees and mostly about his record as a recruiter, what are your thoughts as a play caller?  I'm not deep into stats, so I'm sure they are there to show improvement year over year.

To me, he seems creative and willing /able to find good match-ups against our opponents.  I know others have commented on how he tailors the offense to skill sets, which I really like.

But I am a little scarred by the bowl game.  Yes, we should have won scoring 35 points, and the first half was lights out.  Going in, we looked really well prepared.  But we got next to nothing in the second half and never tried Buchner to stimulate more of a running threat.  Does he stick too closely to his fame plan and needs more work on in-game adjustments?

I’m not an Xs and Os guy either. I only played football through high school and we didn’t even watch tape.

Ive never invested the energy required to learn it. I know basic stuff. Mostly from playing Madden, haha.

I do think Rees is good at putting together game plans based on what he know the defense will give him or what he knows they will try to take away. In game adjustments, not so much.

I am glad you joined the board, please do not judge the entire board based on Elder. Many here have had an issue with him these past few months (since Kelly left)

They didn’t care enough to offer. I’m hostile towards you bc you’re letting personal bias cloud your judgment.

In case you weren’t aware, Hudl exists and 247 had a good write up on him. I don’t need to see him play in person to know that his film & offer sheet tell me he’s not good enough to make ND a better program.

I never said he wasn’t good at that, but none of that matters with Ian Book or Jack Coan at QB. Those guys were good college QBs but had low ceilings on what they could do passing the ball.

Also, who cares if casual fans like ND? As I’ve said before, I don’t want normies to like ND, bc that means they’re not threatening to anyone at the top.

But that’s what makes people hate ND and think we are arrogant pricks. That we have this holier than thou attitude to the rest of the world.
Known a guy for years and until he met me hated ND. Has said if he met more ND fans like me he wouldn’t think so terribly of them. C’mon….

Again, who cares what casual fans think? I don’t want ND to be the likable underdog all of those idiots root for bc it means they’re not taken seriously.

This is why we do not like you. You are not a superior fan to anyone. If anything, you make the real ND fans here look bad for comments like that.

@ELDER06 I think Faith's post was suggesting that we shouldn't turn ND fans off from rooting for ND by being insulting. I, too, would revel in the hatred of casual fans if ND started to dominate like we hope they do. However, I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of having a target by being a dick to them.

@Golden Glory I hope your guy Allen has a great career (and loses if he plays against ND). The potential is there, and ND may rue the day they let him go. It's always a toss-up. Part of the bargain in posting in this thread is that Elder can be gruff. I hope that doesn't sour you on posting more in the future.

Who cares what others think? Give it a rest and move on.

No, if you care about ND being liked, you’re not a good fan. Nobody outside of their fans “likes” Bama, Ohio St, UGA, but who gives a damn? I’ll take high levels of success and being hated bc of that over being the lovable underdog.

@ELDER06would you please share with us how you became an ND fan?

My dad was a ND fan and there’s an established pipeline bw my high school and ND. Basically, the same story as a lot of Catholics growing up in the Midwest.

I’m only a dick bc I don’t believe in pushing a personal bias to the detriment of the program. If he had no personal attachment to Brady Allen, he wouldn’t care that he was passed up in recruiting.
