  • Ill answer this.ย  I think Elder provides some good contrary opinions, which foster good discussion. Sometimes Im not a fan of the tone or whatever but thats my deal.ย  What I was getting anno

@ELDER06ย I don't know if this will make you feel better about Rees not being at Moore's school today, but I thought I'd share.

  • Having a difference of opinion is one thing, being disrespectful and rude because others disagree with your opinion is entirely different.ย

Somehow Johnson is an even worse passer than Angeli. Rees has no clue what heโ€™s doing.ย

@ELDER06ย You seem to be arguing in bad faith. You're obviously entitled to your opinion, and I'm not trying to change it. However, bad faith and straw man arguments can get tiresome.

@tneun89ย provided a post full of data regarding QB recruiting under Rees. If your analysis of that post was that "Rees can't recruit," then I'm curious what "recruit" means to you.

Is he required to land a top X QB prospect to be considered capable of recruiting by you? Does he need to land a specific player? Does he have to lead ND to a national championship?

I'm legitimately curious what your requirements are. That may help us have a more productive conversation.

Rees needs to land & develop an elite QB. Iโ€™m not arguing in bad faith, Iโ€™d rather he get Dante Moore than fail again and prove me right. However, I donโ€™t have much faith based on his track record.ย

I believe that is the crux of why people dont like his posts and why he got suspended. Someone mentioned "Mental Toughness." Constant bad faith arguments in every thread lead to suspensions. I have him blocked, but everyone still quotes him, I like how Tailgate simply @'d him... I wish more people would stop taking his bait and quoting his bad faith arguments...

Overall, Iโ€™m just kinda pissed me off at all of you who bitched non stop about Kelly but donโ€™t seem to care about the same mistakes being repeated by the current staff. Iโ€™m also pissed off so many of you blindly bought into the hype on social media. Freeman has proven to be an elite DEFENSIVE recruiter but offensively, the future is dim.ย

I think you might be rushing your assessment because of what happened in the bowl game.

ย

Here's my Assessment:

Both Elston(as DC) and Quinn FAILED: Both don't work at ND anymore.

ND Could NOT hold a lead by controlling the clock in the RUN GAME

Alexander failed in in-season recruitiing. He no longer works at ND

Let Freeman attempt to fix these issues and then have a FIRST GAME with a full staff before buying or selling futures stock on the ND program.

ND would be mistaken trying to follow UGAโ€™s blueprint from this yr. Thatโ€™s just not going to work the majority of the time. If ND wants to be Defense first and run heavy, theyโ€™ll just end up being Wisconsin.

Signing Angeli is a failure and so is offering Johnson. His 2nd best offer is Wisconsin, what does that tell you? Rees is out of his depth.ย

If thats true, Freeman will assess him and FIRE him. But he scored 35 vs OKSU a good defense with COAN. Freeman needs the time and your patience to gather his own data points.

So what youโ€™re telling me is Rees canโ€™t recruit. Thanks for agreeing with me. I donโ€™t get the hype, shouldโ€™ve let Kelly take his butt to LSU. If all youโ€™re bringing in are the Angeli and Avery Johnsons of the world, youโ€™re not fit to be QB coach/OC at ND.ย

I don't agree with you at all. Look at the rankings and offer lists of the commits. He's not landing elite guy year after year like OSU or Alabama, but to look at that list and say he sucks at recruiting is just not being fair or logical.ย

As for 2023, he needs to land Moore or Vizzina. Not sure where the Avery Johnson stuff is coming from. He doesn't have the green light to commit because ND wants Moore or Vizzina.ย

Love your posts. Thank you!

@ELDER06ย Thanks for the reply.

I'm not clear what you mean by "elite." I see that top 100 is not sufficientย  (based on Jurk & Buchner), so that gives me a starting point to narrow the boundaries. Does it need to be a top 50 QB? 5 star? Your own evaluation?ย

On a related note, what would you need to see out of Buchner or Pyne next season to indicate that Rees has done a good job developing them?

Heโ€™s not bad when it comes to play calling and schemes. However, he needs an elite QB to take ND to the next level.ย

High 4*/5*. Key criteria being a QB with a strong enough arm to stretch the field, but also throw with accuracy. Being a good athlete/running QB is just a bonus.ย
ย

Pyne is too small to ever be truly elite. I appreciate him sticking around as weโ€™ve all seen how valuable an experienced backup can be. Buchner needs to be more accurate and read Defenses better. He has the raw skill of an elite QB but thatโ€™s only half the equation.ย

ND isnโ€™t the leader for Moore or Vizzina. Also with Arnold committing to OK, it only makes sense that Johnson being the 4th option is who they sign.ย

So you are not for Firing Rees. Correct? Or in your opinion does his recruiting become fireable?
