Posted January 3, 20223 yr It looks like he's going to be the primary play by play for SNF next year? Surely NBC will replace him in the booth or he's going to do both games? I think Al Michaels is going to the TNF for Amazon next year. Anyone know what they're planning on doing?

The Rumored Reason Tirico left ESPN's Monday night football booth was to take over for Al Michaels on Sunday Night Football in a few years. Makes sense because a few years have past, SNF is still beating MNF(Broadcast Network(NBC) vs Cable(ESPN) Ironically ESPN/ABC did this to themselves. They used to have to rights to both shows(SNF AND MNF) but dropped SNF because of poor ratings after Chris Berman's star dimmed NBC got the contract, hired Madden and Michaels, when Madden retired it became Collinsworth and Michaels Long answer but since NBC got that contract ND has become their B game or Proving ground. Watch out for Jack Collinsworth. ND alum brother of Austin(former ND player) son of Cris. I think he might be there pick.

I think the whole “this announcer STINKS” narrative is overblown (esp. among ND fans in my experience), Collinsworth does have some tics, but all in all I like the job he does.

He does the pre-game desk for ND on NBC now so I think that makes him the logical choice. Just my opinion.
