Worse coaches than Kelly have won titles as LSU. I don’t see what a theoretical title for Kelly at LSU has to do with anything.

he bolted because he felt he could not not do more , ie could not win a NC at ND.  He might win one at LSU, but it won’t feel the same. He would have earned his statue at ND. But you need to be an ELITE coach to win it all here.  And you need to catch Bama on an off year. I mean, just look at them, they’re on another level…

Alabama is so dominant it's hurting the sport in my opinion.  I'm not saying they're doing anything dirty over there, but sheesh....... they sure aren't having any hiccups.  Their off years are dream seasons for 90% of schools.  I'm not even going to watch the title game because I don't care.  Another SEC championship.  Booooooring.

How do you compete with them? I think I heard Georgia has 40 or more top 100 recruits and 20 five stars? Our 2022 recruiting class was considered pretty good and we have ONE top 100 Recruit. And how many 5 stars on the roster…1 or 2? ND is 3 or 4 amazing classes away from competing with them.

I have no idea.  Somebody at work showed me a thing where Saban could, legit, tell high school players every player he's recruited that stuck around has a national championship.  I didn't dig too deep on it, but that seems right.  Hard to counter that argument.

You were one of the biggest gloom & doomers on here. Yeah, ND is much better off without Kelly, Freeman and his staff looked sharp today. This is what you deserve, you couldn’t wait for Kelly to leave and now when they go back to truly being mediocre, you’ll see how wrong you were.

We arent in any different circumstance now compared to with Kelly.  He never won a big bowl game either.  Freeman is a monster recruiter and that is what wins in college football.  The jimmys and the joes.

He won 10 games 5 yrs in a row and made multiple playoffs. What on god’s green earth did you see today that made you think the Freeman/Rees combo would even get close to that. Rees can’t recruit worth a damn, again Steve Angeli is all you need for proof of that.
