Don't blame either of them. Thought Kyren would still play in the bowl game, but totally get it. I think he is a Top 5 RB according to Mel Kiper, so not worth the risk.

Posted this in a separate thread, but KH should be ND's first defensive player to be taken in the Top 10 since Bryant Young (1994). He could also be taken in the Top 5, which hasn't been done since Todd Lyght (1991).

This is certainly going to make the game less fun and I don't know who else is going to be on the list but good luck to both of these young men and thank you for an extraordinary couple of years.

Figured this was going to happen.  Kyren I wasn’t sure about since he didn’t get much love earlier in the season due to the OL still getting figured out.  In all honesty I’m less worried about Kyren not playing, we have plenty of capable backs. Kyle will hurt, even though I was 90% sure he wouldn’t play anyway.  This is the negative about non playoff bowls.

I hope that Kyle and Kyren both are allowed to be with the team/on the sidelines for the Fiesta Bowl. I think KH especially has been instrumental in getting his replacements up to speed at S and Kyren always just seems like a fun, loose dude to be around.

Another note: the ND Media/Marketing Team has been stepping it up the last few years but they're really done a good job in the last week or so. This is another example of the entire program pulling in the same direction with two of our best players announcing they're going to the NFL with ND's fingerprints all over it. Keep promoting that brand and showing recruits what ND can do for them.

Congrats to them both. They've put forward everything I could have hoped for as a fan (and more). I'm excited to see how their pro-careers play out and wish them all the best.

They’re still part of the team.  They’re just sitting out of the game.  I see no reason why they wouldn’t be around the team.

Yep congratulations to both of them. Hamilton lived up to the lofty expectations we all had for him, and Kyren exceeded anyone’s expectations they could have had.

I wonder if they’d both be playing if ND was in the playoffs ?

Pete Sampson reported that KH would have played in the Playoff. Assume Kyren would have as well.

Not aware of any players skipping the CFP to prepare for the Draft, but I'm sure that will happen eventually.

Good point,  I guess I should've phrased it as "able to be on the sidelines" because I think they're both integral to the team. I'm also sure they'll be there and at practice leading into the bowl.

Congrats to the both of them. I hope they both kill it on the next level.

and couldn’t agree more about the ND marketing department with all this.

Totally agree and wish them both the best success in the NFL and over the next 40 years.

Happy for both of them, and can't wait to see them on Sundays.

To turn a phrase from a certain, fictional Director of Football Operations - Good programs hope players leave early and draft high. Great programs expect players to leave early and get drafted high. It's good for the program and for the players, and I know they'll do all they can to get their replacements ready and fired up on gameday. I expect a very different energy coming out of ND on 1/1/2022.

I think this is a good thing. Two ND players secure themselves as high draft picks, good for them and for recruiting.

This RB group has stupid high potential. Diggs, Tyree and Estime can more than carry the load, I just worry about them in pass protection.

Henderson has looked really good at safety and it’s time we get him some more reps. There’s no replacing Hamilton but we’ve won without him.
