The Grueling Truth website, just gave  out grades to newly hired coaches. Here is how they graded the hires of Freeman and Kelly:

Notre Dame

Marcus Freeman

Grade A

The Irish had gone as far with former coach Brian Kelly as they were ever going to. That brings us to Marcus Freeman, a young, aggressive coach and a monster as a recruiter. It is true that Freeman is young and has never been a Head Coach, which kept this from being an A+. Recruiting is the big thing here for Freeman as he will recruit much better than Kelly as he is an honest man that the players love. Keeping Tommy Rees on as the offensive coordinator was huge, and I think the Irish are on the cusp of something great.

LSU

Brian Kelly

Grade C

Kelly is an outstanding football coach, but many questions surround this hire. The biggest knock against Kelly would be recruiting, and the question has to be, can he keep up with the Nick Saban’s and Jimbo Fishers of the SEC. He has only coached in the Midwest, and will the southerner’s smell the bull shit that Kelly pedals? He is an excellent CEO as a Head Coach. He hires amazing assistants, but I have many issues with this hire. Kelly will go to a school with a low threshold for losing. Remember the guy he is replacing won a National Championship just a couple of years ago. LSU has a long and outstanding tradition of excellence, can Coach Kelly continue it?

What about sites people have heard of? This seems like confirmation bias.

Um, are we going to view something as more legitimate b/c it came from SI, USA Today or Bristol?!? I mean, if any sort of places are pumping out confirmation bias, it's the ones publishing to the masses.

I know nothing about this site but clicking the link, I wouldn't say that it reads as an ND-biased one since they doled out an "A" to Lincoln Riley. Just seems like someone that puts an emphasis on the value of recruiting, which might explain the Kelly grade. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It is bias to him because it does not suit his bias. The fact is we all have biases and it influences us how we move through the world.  My bias is that BK was a overrated coach, who crapped the bed in big games. Therefore, I celebrate him leaving.

More so if it came from 24/7 or the guys on the Cover 3 podcast

I'm always a bit amused by grading systems.  Especially before a coach has even coached a game at a new school.

Obviously all these 'pundits' have to go by is past performance.  But, like the Wall Street people always say, past performance is no guarantee of future returns.

My own personal website (if I had one) grading system may be every bit as good as someone else's.  I've been around a while and seen a lot of things. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBUPAK7Nub4 )

I like Freeman, Riley, and Kelly.  They all seem like good hires.  But of course only time will tell if any of them actually work out in their new positions.

Great movie

Never heard of the guy or site, but that really doesn't mean anything.

The fact that he uses the phrase BK's BS, however would suggest some bias.

I also find it silly to give a A for a guy who has never been a HC, going to one of the biggest names/brands in CFB.

I love the hire (Freeman), but it's a dice roll. And you don't give As for dice rolls.
