To borrow from a reply in one of the threads that Elder made- was thinking maybe we could have a separate thread.

Does anyone have rumors or updates on the current staff position openings?

Wide Receiver Coach:

Offensive line coach?

QB coach?

Linebacker coach?

others?

any chance Notre Dame goes after Keary Colbert from USC since Riley took his WR coach?

Hopefully there are some answers to these questions today at press conference. I am excited to see Freeman’s influence recruiting both sides of the ball.

Welcome to DomerDomain.

Tommy is the QB coach

Linebackers will  need a new coach

Offensive line and receivers are still question marks

Special teams Polian might take a Patriot League head coaching  job

So 4 openings  I think

wide receivers

Offensive Line

Special teams

linebackers

I think they will be filled post bowl game

you know who i would love as WR coach (and doubt this is happening)... Hartline.

If you want rumors, the rumor right now is that Chris Watt is being looked at for the OL coach.

If the guy didn't bleed scarlet & gray, that might be a possibility, but yeah, I can't see any scenario of him leaving. We do need to hit a homerun on the coach for that position group though

Is Del Alexander out as WR coach?  Did he follow Kelly to LSU?

I can’t imagine he’d bolt just to take the same exact job at ND.

Still up in the air at this time. Some say he may retire.

Rumor is Marcus Freeman is making a run at him.  I'd suspect we'd make him WR Coach and Pass Game OC.  This would be a homerun sports.

Here is the only reason.

Pay increase (which he would get staying at OSU)

but additional responsibility/diversity of opinions if his goal is to be a HC. Schools often like to see you work under different HC's.

I've heard this from a few different sources as well, be interesting to see how this plays out.

I say Jaylon Smith for LB coach and Boykin for WR coach. I know Boykin is still active but I know that there is a lot of buzz about releasing him. I imagine he will get picked up elsewhere. What's Michael Floyd doing these days? Could be a good opportunity to get back on his feet.

I’d like some non-first time assistants.  Quality experienced people who can give some feedback to a new first time HC

drag Hiestand out for duty

I hope that’s a joke. These are important jobs, you just don’t give them to someone with literally zero coaching experience of any kind.

Agreed. We dont give these positions to just random players. Good players do not mean they are good coaches/teachers.

Plus, Michael Floyd as a leader of men?  Unless he’s totally turned himself around, no thanks.  But if we want to add an ex-player who has who good football mind and great work ethic a Grad Assist job, i’m all for it.

That being said, as a GA, sure
