Coaches Poll is a bit of a letdown.  Good thing these don’t really matter.  Irish actually drop a spot.

This is foreshadowing. I really think ND is out next Sunday on the outside looking in. I think it will be another opportunity for the committee to punish ND for being independent.

I think we need to be big Baylor and Georgia fans. Big Ten chaos and Cincy would be nice too.

Agreed though ND needs 2 events to be sure.

Being left out and winning a big bowl game isn't a bad narrative for ND. I'd like to see how this ND team playing as they are now matched up against the best teams in the nation.

I'm ok with any outcome. The team did the best they could and had one bad day vs cincy

My only worry about being left out of the CFP and getting a NY6 bowl is how many draftees will pass on the game?

I think we had a lot of bad games Cincy was just the culmination.  Not to pick at Kelly but this season is really a fine example of what has plagued us for the last decade. Qb issues, line issues, secondary issues. They appear settled out now but you really have to get those figured put before game 5.

 

That said, plenty of other teams are in the same boat this year. Look at Oklahoma and Clemson, it could be a lot worse.

It sure didn't help to have Coan not practicing much Cincy week with the ankle. Timing of key injuries go in with what you said. Not fixing the pass protection soon enough

What I expected. Now I become a Georgia and Baylor fan next weekend

We need Georgia to win and an upset to happen. Been saying that OK State will jump us if they win out. Even if they are not ahead of us this week in the playoff rankings, they will be if they win the Big12.

I think Baylor will jump us with a win. I think our best hope is a big GA win and a Cincy loss to Houston. Michigan losing is an outside chance at best.

Agree with comments above that the committee is looking for a reason to leave us out this year.  I could even see Bama dropping to 5 with a loss to Georgia and we stay at 6.

We don't have luck on our side with so many of our opponents laying an egg this year.

I could enjoy us playing Bama in a NY6 bowl this year.

ND/'Bama would dominate the ratings for the entire postseason.  I guess a Georgia/Michigan national championship game would be of interest in part due to the hype machine and the special time slot, but everyone would tune in to see St. Nick crush the always over-rated Irish.

If you're replying to my post, you should understand that my comments about the "always over-rated Irish" were in jest.  I'm an ND alum and have a son at ND who is friends with Jonathon Doerer.  I was not 'shit talking' but rather putting in print what the rest of the country thinks about Notre Dame and Nick Saban.
